NotePager 32 is free and enables you to send a text message from your computer, via a dial-up modem, to the recipient's carrier, who broadcasts the message to a single cell phone or pager. If a local or toll free modem number for the recipient's carrier is not entered into NotePage software there may be long distance charges on your phone bill. Any dial-up charges are not from NotePage.

For a stand-alone version I usually recommend NotePager Pro that enables you to send text messages from your computer, via an Internet connection (ie DSL/cable/T-1) or a dial-up modem.
