Our Agency Switched to ATT. ever since we have noticed that the text messages do not show a from Cumberland911@co.cumberland.nj.us like it does with other carriers. we now get a different number each time we recieve a text message from the Page Gate software. Here are the numbers from last text messages I got.

1410100448
1410100447
1410100446
1410100445
1410100444
1410100443
1410100442
1410100441
1410100440

it keeps going as if it is a message ID. This makes it difficult to save the contact so we can add a ring tone to the sender.

Please advise

Will

I think the issue may be that you're using txt.att.net - AT&T doesn't retain sender's information for that host.

To retain the sender's information, you'll want to use mms.att.net

Alternatively, you can talk to AT&T about getting access to their Enterprise messaging system so you can use their SNPP host, which also retains sender's information.

We had this issue as well, and it just started on Friday. I changed the carrier to email and use the mms.att.net domain. The issue now is that the recipients are getting brand new text message lines from each sender if the sender sends additional pages instead of grouping them like a conversation. This is new behavior. Any ideas?

No, this is the first we've heard of it. To our knowledge, the carrier MMS hosts (like mms.att.net and vzwpix.com) should retain sender's information and allow for conversational grouping of messages.

If that isn't happening for some of your messages, I wonder if AT&T has modified the behavior of their gateway recently.
