What's odd is that the device is erroring out on the AT+CSQ command, as shown in this line:
1/6/2016 1:16:55 PM Received:AT+CSQ<CR><CR><LF>ERROR<CR><LF>
That seems to indicate that the modem may not support the appropriate part of the AT command set, so I went digging through the Sierra Wireless support site and found this documentation:
http://www.sierrawireless.com/resources/documents/support/2130617_supported_at_command_reference-v2.4.pdf
By chance, is the model of your cellular modem one of the following?
AC850
AC860
AC875
AC875U
AC880
AC880E
AC880U
AC881
AC881E
AC881U
MC8755
MC8755V
MC8765
MC8775
MC8775V
MC8780
MC8781 |

Thanks for your replay. The model for our modem is Sierra Airlink LS300.
BTW I successfully sent an SMS using putty with this AT command AT*SMSM2M.

Ah, you have a model of the LS300 that doesn't use the standard GSM-AT command set to deliver messages. Presently, our software doesn't have support for the AT*SMSM2M command but it is something that is being looked in to for implementation. |

After reviewing the documentation for both devices, both use the standard AT command set for SMS delivery, so both devices are compatible. |
