| I am testing your software for our church. I am trying to setup the SNPP for ATT. What password do I use or how do I get access to this service. I have a ATT mobile with unlimited texting. Do I need to sign up for another service with ATT?

| Unfortunately, AT&T's SNPP host can only message phones that have Enterprise Paging enabled for their cel phone plans. If your phone plan doesn't have the EPN enabled, you'll need to use the AT&T SMTP host, 10digitcel@txt.att.net |

The initial test is a general port test and there's a more specific one I'd like you to run. SMTP, as a protocol, is rather heavily restricted, so it depends on what your local network rules are as to how you would want to configure it. So, if you would, please run this test:
1) In Windows, go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Command Prompt.
2) In the Command Prompt, type the following and hit enter:
telnet smtp-bb.vtext.com 25
Let us know what the response is, please. |

Excellent! That's the best possible response. Here's what you'll want to do:
1) Open NotePager Pro.
2) Go to Carriers - Edit.
3) Go in to the settings of your AT&T carrier.
4) Change the protocol to: SMTP
5) In the Local Domain field, enter the part of your email address that's after the @. So, for example, if your email address is user@businessdomain.com you would use businessdomain.com in the Local Domain field.
6) Change the Max Chars to: 160
7) Make sure that the entries for DNS 1 and DNS 2 match your network's primary and secondary DNS servers.
8) Click on Apply and close the Edit Carrier list.
9) Go to Recipients - Edit.
10) Highlight one of your AT&T recipients, click on Edit.
11) In the "Email to" field, enter: 10digitcel@txt.att.net (ex;7818290500@txt.att.net)
12) Click on Apply, then close the Edit Recipient list and try to send a test. |

SMTP can be for email, yes, but it can also be for SMS. Most carriers provide an SMTP address for their phones and this SMTP address delivers the message to the phone in the format of an SMS.
So, for example, if you have an AT&T phone and you sent a message to yourphonennumber@txt.att.net, it would show up on the phone as an SMS. |
