Can someone help me identify the issue with pagegate last night.

We have not had any issues with pagegate since setting it up until last night.

This line was in the General log:
7/31/2013 5:16:46 AM PGDial1 FAILED Stn:1 To:oncall Frm:PRTG File:tmp876.381 Msg:quan-i40 (19*********17 (Quantum Scaler i40)) HTTP 60 (HTTP) Down ESCALATION REPEAT (HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found)

and here is a section from the connector log:

7/31/2013 4:30:36 AM ========================================

7/31/2013 4:31:17 AM Sent:AT<CR>
7/31/2013 4:31:20 AM Received:AT<CR><LF>>

Basically it says "error sending packet" where it should say "Packet sent successfully"

I was just trying to figure out if this means that my GSM modem not have signal or what was the actual cause of the error.

Thanks for your help,
Keith

Could be several things. Signal strength is a likely culprit. All of my cellular modem installations log the signal strength with every session. To do this, use the following initialization string in the connector tied to that modem: AT+CSQ

What version are you using? The current version with the most up to date cellular modem support is v6. If you are on v5, the upgrade fee is only $100.00 USD

Thank you for the quick reply. I am already on version 6. I have added the AT+CSQ, to the connector so we can see what the signal strength was if it fails again.

Is there anything else that it could be? I just want to make sure I have all my bases covered.

Thanks,
Keith

Based on the log, something happened with the cellular modem itself that it didn't successfully respond to the message send request. As OzCom mentioned, this is probably due to a signal strength issue. Since you've implemented the AT+CSQ, post the new log if you see this happen again so we can take a look at what the AT+CSQ response was.

One troubleshooting tip: When you detect the issue, STOP the connector, then connect to that COM port with HyperTerminal or PuTTY - if you cannot connect, then the issue is with the COM port, not necessarily the modem.

Is this a RS-232 Serial or a USB device?

It is a USB device, a Razor GSM phone.

You really should consider an industrial cellular modem. Your Motorola RAZR was NOT designed to be charging (or even powered on) 24/7. Once you have the modem, simply install the SIM card from the RAZR

What would you recommend? It will have to be a USB modem since the server does not have a serial port.
