|
|
Part of our GetAscii message is being sent as the subject when we send it as email, we would like no subject or a static subject. This started happening when we upgraded to version 6.
It is pulling off a portion of the date and time part of our message, so it is very confusing.
Current Version: 6.0.5

The "Send Subject" option tells PageGate that during any SMTP transactions delivered to that recipient, PageGate should include the Subject command. To know what to use for the subject, the program looks at the first 80 characters of the message for a :. If it finds one, everything before the : is treated as the subject. If it doesn't, it sends a default subject of "TEXT MESSAGE". |

Oh, it's on the Recipient, found it. It was unchecked so I am checking it.

At this point, I've checked the "Send Subject" under the Recipient and it is still hapenning. I then Unchecked "Send Subject" and it is still hapenning.
I opened the User table and all Users have "Send Subject" set to zero.

Bear in mind that almost every receiving SMTP server out there will filter messages without a subject as spam. So, we accounted for that in PageGate version 6 by always passing a subject parameter when it was requested by the receiving server.
If you want the subject to always be the same thing, though, what we can do is create a subject template that tells PageGate never to use anything other than what you've specified. To do that:
1) Open NotePad.
2) Enter what you want the subject line to say.
3) Go to File - Save As.
4) Change in to the PageGate program directory.
5) Change the Files of Type to All Files so Notepad doesn't stick a .txt on the file extension.
6) Name the file global.stp and save it.
7) Stop and start the PageGate services.
After you apply that template, the only thing that will ever be sent for the subject line is what you entered in to that file. |
