How can I integrate an automated DTMF page message which was intended to dial a dedicated pager (like in the old days) into NotePager Pro? The automated message consists of a phone number and a coded numerical message describing the alarm event. An SMS message on my cell phone is the goal.

If NotePager Pro is not the best way to do this, suggestions are welcome.

The carrier is Verizon

Well, it can't really be done with NotePager Pro but it can be done with PageGate. You could use PageGate's GetTouchTone module to monitor a modem and phone line. Then, when PageGate received the DTMF signals, it would key offo f them to deliver an SMS out to the Verizon device in question.

Thanks. Nice solution. Unfortunately a little pricey - PageGate plus the DTMF module - for a single pager non-corporate application.

I understand this is more than what you want to spend. For what is needed and the capabilities provided, PageGate software isn't too costly. Pricing is at http://www.notepage.net/pricing.htm

Download a free trial at http://www.notepage.net/software.htm

I want to do the same thing.

What is the GetTouchTone module? What does it look like?

$150 for PageGate software
$100 for Touchtone Receiver
Am I understanding the prices correctly?

The GetTouchTone module is a module for PageGate that allows the program to monitor a modem for incoming calls, then listen in for any touchtones that are received. This does require a modem with the Voice capability because standard DataFax modems cannot interpret inbound DTMF tones.

As for what the module looks like, you can run a demo version of the module by executing the PGTTReceiver.exe in the PageGate program directory. The PGTTReceiver.exe is controlled by the pggttone.ini file, so you'll want to open the pggttone.ini and configure it first based on the directions within the file.

Will this hardware work with your software?

Want my computer to receive a automated telephone call from a security system that is programed to send a page to a pager. [DTMF page message] This should trigger the software to send a email containing the numeric page numbers or a custom message.

There will be one designated phone line into the modem of the computer in my house.

I see eight separate Interfaces on your PageGate Order Form. What do I need to purchase to receive Touch-Tone (via voicemodem) Inbound Message and send SMTP (email via Internet) Outbound Message?

Unfortunately, according to the specification of your modem, it doesn't have the Voice option required to receive DTMF signals. You would need to get a modem that supports that to use it with the GetTouchTone module.

You would need PageGate with the GetAscii and GetTouchTone modules and a Recipient license equal to the number of Recipients you want to send messages to.

Can your PageGate software receive messages from a alarm panel in Contact ID format? Think a handshake or kiss off signal is needed.

Here is some data information copied from DSC PC1832 alarm panel installation instructions.

Appendix F: Communicator Format Options
01 20 BPS, 1400 HZ handshake
02 20 BPS, 2300 HZ handshake
03 DTMF CONTACT I.D.
04 SIA FSK
05 Pager
06 Residential Dial
07 10 BPS, 1400 Hz handshake
08 10 BPS, 2300 Hz handshake

I'm not immediately familiar with the Contact ID format... is it trying to dial out to transmit DTMF signals? If so, you should be able to use PageGate's GetTouchTone module to monitor a modem for those incoming calls, yes.
