| We use Page Gate interfaced to our CAD system to notify volunteer firefighters in case they are not close to their radio pagers at the time of a dispatch. Recently three of our firemen switched to Droid phones. They're telling me that in the last week or so they still get the pages but only the first 30 or 40 characters. Others in the same paging group with the same carrier but different devices are still getting full pages. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you fix it?

I am in the same boat...
I am getting reports of text messages being cut off.
This what the user should have received that is sent automatically from our CAD system for a Dwelling Fire:
E911:T3211_DWELLING_(Upper Deerfield)51 Vilms ST / LEYS RESD_2011-03-14 19:12:28_
This is what they got:
(Upper Deerfield)51 Vilms ST / LEYS RESD_2011-03-14 19:12:28_
The E911:T3211_DWELLING_ is cut of the message they are recieving.
This is not a system wide issue. Do you know of any issues with Verizon or Droid. All of the users that have reported the above issue have Verizon Android Phones.

The Verizon phones are Droid X & RSD2. I have not recieved any for other phones or carriers.

What protocol are you using to deliver? SMS (via attached cellular modem) or SMTP (10digit@vtext.com)? MAYBE it is because the way the Android OS dsplays the SUBJECT (and sometimes the first line of the message as a subject) - if they select that message - does the rest appear?_________________ Aaron D. | The last time I ran into this, it was related to the SMTP protocol and how Verizon handles it. What you'll want to do is set the Max Chars field in the Carrier to 160. |

| I didn't see that as an option, however, I did some troubleshooting and it appeared that anytime we used parenthesis or brackets anything before would get cut off but I did the same testing the other day and it went through just fine, odd
|

| We ended up getting around this by having each Droid user create a gmail account and integrate the mail account to the phone. Then, instead of sms/smtp we choose "email" in the settings and give it the gmail address. It's a little clumsy but so far it has worked for everyone who has done it.
