Hi,

I currently use SMS software that has a GSM modem and has a DDE link to my software program to trigger the sending if SMS alerts.
However, this software does not run as a service and a user can shut it down. Also, I sometimes get message failures.

What I need is a robust method of sending SMS alerts. I am hoping that notepage software will do this for me.

Q1: I want to send SMS alerts using a land line. Which software will do this, notepage pro or pagegate?

Q2: Do either of these programs support DDE? I have over 20 critical alarms which need to trigger SMS alerts.

Q3: Can notepage pro or pagegate run as a service?

Q4: If DDE is not supported, I can either generate text files or sendkeys to the SMS program. Which of these would be the best method?

Regards
Joe

A1: Both NotePager Pro and PageGate support sending messages via land lines.

A2: DDE is not supported, but PageGate supports many other integration methods. You can download a text document that describes many of the methods here: http://www.notepage.net/download/pgintegration.txt

A3: PageGate can run as a service

A4: Most integrators use the text file option. See A2 for other options.

I am not entirely clear on what your Carrier is supporting. I believe PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) is also known as POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service). This would be the "network" that would be carrying the data.

TAP is generally sent over POTS, unless you have a direct serial connection to a paging terminal.

Some carriers do use leased lines, so that customers have a direct TAP connection to the Carrier's paging system (without having to use modems).

Is there more information that you can provide?
