I have a username/password to use with Sprint/Nextel. Where can I enter this in NotePager Pro (Version 3)? I tried the user space pass that works with Page Gate but no luck. Thanks in advance.

In the settings of the carrier, you'll see the password field. Enter the credentials there, separated by a space.

I tried that but when I tab out of the password field or if I leave focus on the password and click apply, everything after the space diappears.

There is a 10 character limit in the password field, I'd guess that your username is 10 characters? Also, which host are you using for the carrier?

Exactly 10 characters!! Drat... snpp.messaging.sprint.com

Any workaround other than requesting a different username?

Sprint would NOT issue a password that long
Since the Sprint/NexTel EMG uses SENDING IP address as part of the authorization process, the username and password combinations are very short. Please double check the information they provided you for log in

OzCom,

Well, Sprint wouldn't issue a password that long, no... but they usually require username AND password in the password field. So, if his username is 10 characters and we have a 10 character limit int he password field, that's why NotePager Pro is dropping off anything after the 10th character.

Now, the host snpp.telemessage.com requires username and password. As far as I've been told and been made aware, the snpp.messaging.sprint.com host JUST needs the username.

If you have JUST the username in the password field and it's still failing, Ozcom's right. The IP your credentials are tied to and the IP you're using are probably different.

Very shortly, the host at snpp.messaging.sprint.com will be the ONLY host that will accept messages for Sprint CDMA and NexTel iDEN devices. This has been in the works for some time now and the official END DATE is rapidly approaching for all other formerly used hosts. One of the resons for moving to this system was to combat abuse/spamming. MOST new usernames are under 5 characters long and most new passwords are also under 5 characters long. The reason this works is that the SENDING IP needs to be registered as well.

Actually, they did issue me a username that is exactly 10 characters long. I applied for the username/password as a part of my software development job. Our software is used to dispatch air medical helicopters and as part of development and sales, I do not have a restricted IP address to use with Sprint messaging. The 10 character username and the associated 4 character password work fine in my software - the usrename limit is 25 characters.

Maybe when the IP is not part of the restriction, the username can be longer...

It is also possible that some of the information from Sprint/Nextel is a little off. The email I got with my username/password also says that only the username is required for the SNPP site. But without the password, the login fails everytime - works fine with both username and password.

Send a message to Brad.Gaunt@Sprint.com for clarification - he is responsible for the platform
