I'm going to keep testing mine every couple days. What happens if you change your limit to 2 or 1?

I called Verizon. They said that they only see those 6 messages coming into their system, although I sent 10.

I checked my signal strength again. It is 27,99

I set the limit to 2.

I sent myself 10 messages. I received 5.

Perhaps it is because I am sending them all to the same number???

But, Verizon is only receiving these few in their logs according to the tech support. They also said they don't support PageGate.

How did you get them to track your messages so quickly? It takes an act of God to get them to track something for me. :)

RE: "They don't support PageGate"

As far as their network is concerned, the modem is just another subscribed device. PageGate delivers the message to the device which, in turn, delivers it into the intercarrier SMS "ring"

RE: Multiple messages to the same recipient
Were all 10 the same text? There are many devices that will not display what it sees as duplicates

Here is an update:

To get them to "so quickly" track messages, here is what I did: Call them, tell them phone number. I said that many messages were not going through. She said, I am transferring you to tech support." That person looked up the messages. I don't know what "L" level of support that was though.

I could not get them to understand how PageGate works though. They kept saying that any third-party software sends messages differently. Oh well, I know they can't officially support anything that doesn't belong to them even if it simply controls the modem. So, no use trying to convince them...

WIKLEJ - How LONG are your test messages? I just found out that anything less than a few characters does not work. But, if I send something like "LONG LONG MESSAGE", (put that in the FROM and MESSAGE), and it goes fine! Every single time! I just sent myself 50 messages that way to the same number, perfect!

Even with the carrier limit set really high, it still works 100% IF the message is at least so many characters or so long...

Mine was "Test 2 of 3 at a time" and "Test 3 of 3 at a time".

All of these went. When I had my limit set at 5, sending 10 messages, of which I got 4, it said "Test to 5 users".

It went to 10 users and again I only got 4.

For the 10, Mark your messages so you know exactly which ones you receive.

Did you receive the first 4? The last 4? Every other one?

Also, are you sending FROM verizon, TO verizon?

Because I'm sending Group pages, I can't really customize messages for individual users. So it's true I don't really know which messages I got or missed.

I only ever have any problems when I'm sending Group pages, never when I send individual messages.

Turn off the scheduler. Then send yourself 10 individual pages with unique messages. Then when you turn on scheduler, they will all go out at once and you can see which ones get through.

Well, I did what you said. Set my carrier limit at 10, queued 11 individual different messages, turned Scheduler on and it dialed, sent 10, hung up, dialed again and sent 1.

I received all 11.

This is where this whole thing is tricky, screwy, goofy, whatever.

I know the last time someone griped to me about missing pages was back on the 15th. I looked that message up in my logs. It's 53 characters long. Certainly not a short one. It went to 10 people and at least 4 did not get it; some are Verizon customers.

I don't remember if by default PageGate has any carrier limit. But that's the only thing I've changed since that time is trying different numbers in the carrier limit.

Now today I change the limit to 10, send 11 and they all go perfectly.

This is just a screwed up mess. Not PageGate's deal, though. PageGate does the same thing every time you use it, like it should. It's all Verizon and their system acting different ways depending on the day.

I'm going to leave my carrier limit at 3, send myself tests every now and then and hope it continues to work like it does today. If it does, wonderful. If not, who knows? What more can I do really?

Thanks for all of your help.

Jeff

The bad thing about setting your limit so low is that it increases the average time per message to send. If you are sending a few messages, it won't matter. But, if you are sending 500 messages, then 1 second per message longer is almost 9 minutes longer after 500 messages.

This is true. But the biggest group I have is 125 so I guess I can deal with a couple of minutes. Especially if I can't count on Verizon to at least be consistent.

Here is my status as of today:

Carrier limit set to 3.

I sent 106 messages to myself at the same time.

I only received 86 though...

They were all marked SUCCESSFUL in the logs.
