when sending to 3 people each on a different carrier, will notepager pro automatically know which carrier to send which message or is that something that is defined when configuring the recipeint. Ie I need to know in advance which carrier the respective recipient belongs to??

When you setup a recipient, you will define which carrier that recipient will use. Then when you send a message, they will be sorted by carrier and all the pending messages will be sent to each carrier in a single connection, to each carrier.
