I would like to set up our system to send pages to cel phones on the Verizon system.
What protocols & setups are suggested.
Thanks in advance.

Are you wanting to deliver the messages by modem or by internet? |

I can go either way, modem or Inet. I'm guessing Inet would be faster.

Here's how you'll want to configure the internet based Verizon carrier. Before we do any configuration, you'll first need to find out if port 25 is open or closed on your network and whether or not Verizon is accepting direct connection requests from your network. This test will determine both things:
1) In Windows, go to Start - Run.
2) In the Run line, type the following and click OK: command
3) In the command prompt, type the following and hit enter:
telnet smtp-bb.vtext.com 25
If the response you receive starts with 220, that means port 25 is open and Verizon is accepting direct connection requests from your network.
If the response you receive starts with 554, that means port 25 is open and Verizon is NOT accepting direct connection requests from your network.
If you receive a message that says "Unable to establish a connection to the host on port 25", that means port 25 is closed on your network.
If you would, let me know which result you received and then I can let you know how to specifically configure the carrier. |

1) In the PageGate Admin, go to the Connectors section.
2) In the connectors section, go to Global and under Global go to SMTP.
3) The Local Domain field identifies where your messages are coming from, not where they're going to. So, in the Local Domain field, you'll want to input the latter part of your email address (the part after the @).
4) Leave PostMaster blank.
5) Make sure that your primary and secondry DNS servers are in DNS 1 and 2.
6) Click on Apply.
7) Once you've done that, simply right click on Carriers, left click on Add.
8) Name the Carrier: Verizon
9) Set the protocol to SMTP and click on Apply.
Any time you add a Verizon recipient in the program, in the Email To field, use: 10digitcel@vtext.com |
