Hello all,

This is my first post. We recently purchased Pagegate V5.0 and are looking at upgrading from V4.09. Are there any known issues with this upgrade? Can we install over the existing installation or would it be more advisable to uninstall/reinstall the upgrade? The server is on a Windows XP SP2 box.

Thanks for any advise you can give,

--Jason

To upgrade from v4 to v5, this is what you'll want to do:

1) On your existing installation of PageGate, browse to your database directory and make a backup copy of the pagegate.mdb file (to disk, to CD, to your desktop, whichever way will be easiest for retrieval
later).

2) Download the latest PageGate installation file from our website (http://www.notepage.net - Click on the download button under the PageGate section and save the pgsetup.exe file to your desktop).

3) Run the pgsetup.exe file you've just downloaded.

4) When it asks which installation you wish to run, select the PageGate Server option.

5) Unless you need to change the installation directory, you can really just click next through the entire routine until it finishes.

6) Now that we have version 5 installed, go to your start menu and run the PageGate Admin.

7) It should notify you that the database has been updated and that PageGate needs to be restarted. After it does this, run the PageGate Admin again.

8) Go to the Registration section and enter your PageGate version 5 registration information as the version 4 registration information won't work with the new program.

At this point, PageGate has now been upgraded from version 4 to version 5.

Will the version 4 clients be able to interact with the version 5 server? I don't want to do this long term, but I'd like to know if paging will be unavailable until the client v5.0 is installed. Thanks for the advice.

You'll need to upgrade the version 4 client to version 5.

Upgrading PageGate software version 4 to version 5 for $100.00 also includes any currently registered Interfaces (i.e. GUI Client).
