Hi all,
I am trying to integrate NotePager Pro along with Solarwinds NPM to send SMS to the mobile devices. The problem I am facing is that NotePager cannot Communicate with the modem. I have tried communicating with console over it with success. Here is the respond to these messages.

The program used was putty and HyperTerminal. Both worked with the COM1 port with a speed of 115200.

What make and model of modem are you using? Is it internal, Serial, or USB? What Operating System are you using?
Also, in the Phone and Modem options in the control panel, what COM port does Windows say the device is attached to? |

I am using a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise edition with SP2.
The modem is attached via a serial port (externally).
The device is connected via COM1 as windows says in Phone and modem options.
The modem we are using is a Wavecom Fastrack Modem M1306B.
If you need anything else please tell me.

| Okay, if it's connected via Serial port and not USB, this should be working, as long as the modem itself is functional. Do you have anything like Routing and Remote Access or a Fax program that would be monitoring/listening to the COM ports on the system? If so, either disable them or tell them NOT to monitor COM1. |

Well no, i don't have anything utilizing the COM port. If I had then I would not be able to HyperTerminal it. I have tried to send an SMS with Hyperterminal and it succeeded. :)
Nevertheless this seems to be working fine now. I have manually entered the modem without the wizard.

And btw if anyone else experiences the problem, you should test the modem if it can send SMS with this command:
AT+CMGS="xxxxxxxxx"
SMS Test from modem
<Ctrl+z>
If you get an sms to the number you have entered in the xxxxxx, then your modem is installed successfully :)

| If you go into the Tools - Settings - Modem section of NPP, try setting the Modem Port to 1 and sending a message. I mean, really, what should be happening is that the program goes directly to COM 1 and requisitions it. If there's anything there, it grabs it and goes along its way. The thing is, what really confuses me, is that I've seen what you're running into happen with USB modems plenty of times but I've never run into it with a Serial modem before. |
