I have checked every forum on this website involving Verizon, Verizon wireless & SMTP problems. I have tried every suggestion in those posts & I still am unable to send any messages from notepager pro V3 to a Verizon Wireless cellphone via SMTP. My ISP is verizon.net & verizon DSL as internet connection. My DNS server is 192.168.1.1 As an example, I have tried the following:
*changed from my local DNS server to local e-mail server which verizon.net shows on their website as outgoing.verizon.net
*tried sending messages with both my virus & firewall protection on & off (am able to connect with both on)
*ran the 2 different dos commands to check for errors listed (telnet notepage 25 & the other one) telnet notepage 25 gives a 220 message
*changed the general sending name to e-mail accounts I have listed under verizon.net
*even tried using my employer's verizon DSL DNS settings & local domain with verizon.net as my local domain as their notepager pro program works with no problems with verizon wireless messages. My employer uses Verizon DSL as their internet connection but different e-mail domain.
*tried SNPP, WCTP just to see if something else works (which I read it doesn't but what the heck!)
*TAP does work dialing a verizon wireless 1-800 number as I do receive pages from this setup

I have 1 question however. Is the local relay server & local e-mail server the same thing? They were both mentioned & I really did not see any explanations in any of the posts & I have not contacted verizon for a local relay server.

I keep getting "message not accepted" in my dialer log history. Any assistance in possibly resolving this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

George

What happens when you try the DOS test: telnet smtpsp.vtext.com 25

What sort of a response do you get?

The 554 response means that Verizon's mail host is, for whatever reason, rejecting the connection attempts from your network... which means the only way you'll be able to deliver your messages to Verizon is to either use a local, unauthenticated mail server (NotePager Pro version 3 doesn't currently support authentication) or use TAP to dial into the Verizon terminal banks directly.

I thank you for your time. Just one other thing, are local relay server & local e-mail server the same thing or I shouldn't worry about it because it isn't going to work anyway with my situation. Thanks.

Yes, they are the same thing.

Also, you could try contacting Verizon's tech support directly about the problem and try to get through to their level 2 or level 3 techs and ask them why you're receiving the 554 response whenever your attempt to connect to their SMTP host.

Just to let you know I had this problem about a year ago with Verizon on sending pages from Notepager to any Verizon wireless phone and I can tell you what is wrong so you don't have to find out yourself the long way in here like I did. Verizon messages to any mobile phone via notepager is banned for life from a Internet police watcher do to thinking it it is spam (allot of messages or bulk messages).
So now we send all of our messages to gmail account (which is free). I add all of our members and officers here at my one fire company to this email account and by using the filters settings in this one gmail account. then I setup the gmail email addy in Notepager so when it goes out it goes to that gmail account adn then out to all vferizon mobile phone users and it works.
Our County 911 uses the same thing to send fire & EMS calls out to our responders as well.
Believe me it is not Notepagers fault in anyway it is just a prolem with Verizon. If you add Sprint, ATT or BlackBerry to your notepager it will work fine, it is just Verizon that has the problem.

Here go to my post in here which is about a year ago. My answer to the problem is on the second page about the banning or Black List.

I have a similiar problem - but with a little twist...

The Communication Monitor shows that the messages going to Verizon SMTP users are successful - however - they do not actually go through.

I do not have any error messages. I am using the same settings I have always used - all of a sudden last Friday - SMTP messages to Verizon users stopped working.

If I use Outlook from the same PC - send an email to the same Verizon user - the message comes through just fine.

Below is NPP.log

Please help!

Well, from what I've been able to determine, over the weekend, Verizon changed something with their internal spam filtes. Messages that would normally go through now get filtered internally... but the host still accepts the message, so it looks like the messages accepted. because it was. Then it gets filtered.

Now... unfortunately, this means that the IP you're sending from has been greylisted. Not outright blacklisted but your messages are being filtered internally by Verizon as Spam.

Again, unfortunately, this means the only way you can get your Verizon messages to start going through to the phones is by contacting Verizon's Tech Support and asking to speak to their level 2 or 3 techs. Their entry level techs will have no idea what you're talking about when you ask them to whitelist your IP address. So, once you do get through to a level 2 or 3 Verizon tech, ask them to whitelist your IP.
