I know I have the correct licensing in place. I need some assistance configuring the GetAscii interface.

I have a piece of software that writes a capcode and a message to a file. The contents of the file look like this:

13145467~Message Text Here \09 (Vertical Tab)

I have the polling directory set to a folder on the PageGate server's local hard drive, where the other software writes the file. I have the filename configured under the "advanced polling files" box with the "file type" set to "adding". I have the "single character wildcard" set to ?, the multiple character wildcard set to *, the end of record symbol set to | and the ascii value delimter set to \. Under the "Record" setting, I have the start pattern set to 131 (which is what every one of my cap codes starts with) with an offset of 1, and the end pattern set to \09 (Vertical Tab). Under the "Recipient" setting, I have the static recipient button selected with an ad-hoc user identified in the recipient box.

The GetAscii module does not seem to "see" the pages. There is no information or errors in the GetAscii logfile. I'm I must have a misconfiguration.

If I want to use the GetAscii module to scan a file for updated messages and send them to a dynamic recipient, is there something wrong with my above configuration? Should I select dynamic recipient under the Recipient settings?

Any help is appreciated.

Can I setup the GetAscii Interface (configured Advanced Polling Files recipient to be ad-hoc) to work with ad-hoc recipients? I have a program that can write a capcode and a message to an ASCII file. Can I configure GetAscii to scan that file for the cap code and not the recipient?

I currently have the advanced polling files file type set to "adding". When the file changes, I noticed a samename.ptr file is created which indicates that the GetAscii interface has searched/processed the file? However, there is no information in the log for that interface. No other log file indicates whether or not the message was processed. I know for a fact it has not been processed successfully (no page received, and no dialer log), but was looking for any information to help troubleshoot.

Thanks[/code]

Also, if I can send an ad-hoc page through the Get Ascii interface, how does Page Gate determine which carrier to send the page through?

Thanks

Okay - So it appears I have to use the sendpage.exe from the directory specified in the Polling Directory. I can now send pages to listed recipients, but not to my newly created ad hoc recipient. I created a recipient named ah and had to enter a cap code so I enetered 1234567. From a windows shell i enter sendpage ah;1218219 test page. The Get Ascii log tells me that 1218219 is not a valid recipient.

Thanks for the help.

Is there a particular was that Get Ascii needs to be configured to support ad-hoc paging? I can't seem to get any command line pages to go through. I never see them even pending. The command appears to be sucessful when I send, but I don't see anything in any logfile.

If I use sendpage.exe to send message, is there any way to send a capcode/id/pin that is not already in the page gate database or listed as a recipient? I have another application that needs to send pages and can through page gates serial interface. The problem is that this other application has a large capcode/id/pin database that I would not want to try to keep updated in page gate. I thought about importing the list on a scheduled bases but I am not sure what format would work.

Dialer 3 did startup as an APP. I then switched it back to run as SERVICE and it seems to be working fine now.

Thanks for your help!

It is set to manual, just like the other dialers.

No entries appear in the dialer 3 log. There are a couple of errors in the event viewer: 1)30000 millisecond timout waiting for dialer 3 and 2)the service did not respond to the start request in a timely fashion.

I did not have dialers 2-4 selected under "run on this server" (duh!). Now I have them selected and dialers 1, 2, and 3 are all "running", as displayed via admin. HOwever, I can't send a page via dialer 3. In windows Services panel, it shows as stopped even though it shows as "running" in PG admin.

I have a license for PageGate with 4 dialers. I am trying to setup the 2-4 dialer. I setup the dialer through the admin but it will never start. Is this a license issue? Thanks

Thanks for the solutions. Just to let you know... I needed it to send out the page out two serial ports simultaneously because of the way we have out private paging system setup. We have two Zetron paging terminals (2200) that are setup to back each other up for redundancy. Both terminals think they are the "active" terminal all the time. I wanted to setup the client software (in this case using PageGate as a backup) to send the page to both Zetron terminals all the time without any end user intervention. If I do it like Tech Support has suggested, then the end user will have to pick the second recipient after the first page has failed. That will not work for our environment. The equipment will switch automatically after a failure. I don't want the end user having to think about that. Thanks.

I understand that it has up to 16 dialers. What I am asking is if I have one subscriber, can I set up PageGate so that everytime that one subscriber is paged, it will send it out more than one dialer?

Hello,

I have the need to send all pages out two serial ports simultaneously. I understand that there may be external black boxes that can handle this but am wondering if the software can handle this. I would like the PageGate server to send out the page for every page out port 1 AND out port 2 at the same time.

Thanks!
