I had a guy that has this set up at his house send me his carrier settings. I have followed them to the This is what he sent.

Carrier LCSD
Protocol TAP
Phone Number XXX-XXXX
Baud Rate 57600
Parity EVEN
Data Bits 7
Stop Bits 1
Init String AT&FQ0V1X4&D2 "Which is the last choice of the drop down menu on mine"
Max Chars 240
Password
Msg Limit 0

I still can not connect. Is there any way to diagnose this? I thought it was the old modem we pulled form a 10 yr old machine so I bought a new one that was win7 compatible. This still is not working.

I also want to note that this carrier waits for a pager number or id. does this software have a setting for this? "at the tone enter your pager number" then at the tone enter your number. I would assume that your software would know how to talk to their application. We have this working on another users system at his house. I beleive he is still useing winXP is this perhaps a Win7 issue?

I do not have recomended settings from the carrier. I may be able to get some from another person but do not have them. I changed the init string and below are the results in the log file.

We are running Windows 7 on all your systems Are you saying Win7 is not capable of useing a USB modem? If so do you have a internal modem suggestion? Keep in mind we are a Volunteer department and funds are limited. I am looking for a in-expensive modem that will work with your software. We had one from an old pc that seems to get a dial tone but will not initiate the call to the sherrifs department. The old one was about 12 years old.

Has anyone had luck with a USB attached modem?

I will try to contact them and find out but it is the linn county sherrifs department - dispatch that sends the pages out for us. they provided a phone number to call - enter a pager ID and sned the information to. I beleive that is hosted internally to the Sherrif's dispatch center.

What do I need to do or know to connect with that functionality? VS having to buy a modem and dial a number?

Is that sent over ethernet? I am not familiar with the paging functionality on the other end - I just know we can dial to a number provided and send a page. We do not have access to the back end infrastructure.

I thought there was an issue with the modem having voice capabilities? is that resolved? it is hard to find on with out these days. Please list specific in-expensive models it can be internal or external

We are looking to use the notpager pro applicaiton to send pages out to our fire deparment pagers. Please advise me what modems are supported by the application so I can procure one. We are running windows 7.
