In the NotePager Pro directory, you'll see a file called npp.mdb - that's the only file that needs to be backed up. For PageGate, if you'll look in the PageGate directory, you'll see a file ...

NotePage, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of PageGate version 5. PageGate is a complete wireless messaging solution that incorporates a wide variety of messaging protocols for sending messages to mobile phones, wireless devices, fax machines and pagers.

Wireless messaging communication is important in todays fast paced environment. PageGate allows critical alerts to be sent instantly to wireless devices regardless of the recipient's locations. PageGate supports group messaging and preprogrammed alerts, so that with the press of a single button notification can be sent to defined groups of individuals.

To ensure delivery even in the event of connectivity loss, PageGate version 5 supports failover options and redundant connectors. Messages that cannot be delivered to their intended recipients can be automatically redirected to a backup recipient or group, or the message can be sent to the same recipient via an alternative delivery method.

Messages can be sent into PageGate via: a Windows client, web page, email, commandline, text file, serial port, modem, wireless modem, wireless phone or the Internet.

PageGate's modular design allows users to select from eight different interfaces, allowing users to scale PageGate to meet their business needs and expand as their needs change. Interfaces can be used individually or in conjunction with each other, as PageGate can receive and process messages simultaneously from multiple sources.

PageGate supports multiple telecom carriers, multiple connectors, direct connections to paging terminals, group paging, scheduled messages, repeating messages, on-call groups, and ad hoc paging, making it ideal for demanding, high-end messaging and communication.

PageGate supports a variety of delivery methods including the following protocols: Fax, GSM-AT, SMTP, SNPP, TAP, Tone, UCP and WCTP. Messages can also be delivered out the serial port, or via the Internet and TCP/IP to another computer.

Increased Functionality at Minimum Expense

Streamline Solutions uses PageGate to facilitate alarm conditions.

Communications Facilities, Inc. (CFI), a Streamline Solution's customer, uses Zetron Sentrimax to monitor alarm points at a variety of communication sites, including federal agencies and wireless towers. The alarm conditions indicate a range of items from power failures to temperature alerts.

Streamline Solutions, LLC. was able to optimize CFI's communications and increase response times by installing PageGate with the GetSerial Interface. The added functionality of PageGate means that designated Communications Facilities, Inc. staff receive detailed text messages about each alarm condition.

For example, when the site located on Spruce Mountain detects a failure of the local power grid, CFI and all associated parties receive a text message on their alphanumeric pagers, cell phones, and PDA's. In some cases, CFI has added some of their key customers (site tenants) to the group call list so they too are notified of significant issues that may impact their businesses.

Streamline Solutions, LLC. was able to significantly increase functionality of the infrastructure CFI had already installed with comparatively minimal capital outlay.

Pricing and Availability:
PageGate version 4 and its six front-end gateways are available immediately. The cost of the PageGate paging engine depends upon the number of pagers or cell phones supported. Each of the front-end interface modules may be purchased separately. PageGate requires Windows 95/98/NT4/2000 running on a Pentium-class processor, 32Mb of RAM, 50Mb of hard drive space, and a modem.

Pilot Program Uses PageGate Software - http://www.notepage.net/pagegate.htm

AT&T WIRELESS GRANT HELPS BLOOD CENTER USE TECHNOLOGY TO REACH BLOOD DONORS .

Blood Center and AT&T Wireless launch pilot program in King County
Sept. 14, 2004 -- SEATTLE, WA - Puget Sound Blood Center today announced that AT&T Wireless is providing a $25,000 grant to fund the deployment of an innovative program that will change the way the local blood supply is managed in emergency situations. The Blood Center, the state's largest blood center, will launch a pilot program -- the first of its kind in the country - enabling the organization to directly alert specific blood donors and volunteers in "real time" via wireless text messaging.

AT&T Wireless is funding a text-messaging pilot for six months to help the Blood Center target type O blood donors - a blood type that is in the greatest demand. Type O blood is considered the "universal donor" and can be transfused into any patient in an emergency.

On Sept. 15 at 10 a.m., the Puget Sound Blood Center will host a press conference and demonstration to introduce the pilot program, answer questions and show how text messaging will be used to contact donors. Puget Sound Blood Center is located at 921 Terry Ave., in Seattle. Members of the press are encouraged to attend.

The need to reach donors and volunteers quickly and effectively has never been greater. Emergency situations, such as automobile or other accidents, create an immediate, lifesaving need for specific blood types. Furthermore, the active lives led by blood donors or volunteers can make it challenging for the Blood Center to reach them quickly using email or phone calls.

The Blood Center regarded the decision to work with AT&T Wireless as a natural extension of its history in leveraging technology to improve operations, reduce costs and increase its donor base.

"Puget Sound Blood Center must retain donors and increase our donor base in m ...

Our products do support sending text messages, but not flash messages.

The way text messages are delivered to mobile phones is as follows:

1. The message is created in one of our software packages (or accepted into our software package from another source).
2. Our software connects a computer at the mobile phone carrier via the Internet, or a regular modem and phoneline.
3. The message is sent to the carrier.
4. The carrier then delivers the message to the mobile phone.

Some GSM phone networks allow you to use a wireless modem or mobile phone connected directly to the computer running our software with a serial cable. Our software can then use the phone to send messages wirelessly from phone to phone without using any physical connection (no internet or phone line needed). This is not supported by all carriers though.
