As a temporary solution, I set up an oncall group, with myself as the only member, and having availability each day from 12:02 AM to 11:58 PM. This group was then specified as the NPP recipient in the monitor.
Not the cleanest solution by far, but it should allow me to avoid the midnight pages ...

To help troubleshoot a problem I've been having (occasiobally receiving a null message via GetMail) I just installed the experimental monitor referred to in another post - it works well !! I have chosen to be notified for Stalled Modules, Module Errors, and Message Queue not empty for X minutes.

One question ... I now get paged every night at midnight when the cleanup routine begins and ends ... any way of rescheduling the cleanup or suppressing that page ?

I think you see where I'm going. I am currently using an external Perl script to implement group logic and determine who to page when a request is made. Each recipient chooses a start and end hour (8:00-8:00, 6:00-3:00, etc ...).

When a page for a group is received, the script looks at each recipient's window to determine if he/she is active. If any recipient is in their active window, a page is sent to them. If none are in the active window(evenings and weekends, typically), a default on-call recipient gets the page.

Under this model, none of my external systems need to cope with weekend/after-hour scheduling, and I'm guaranteed that the page will try to get delivered to someone, rather than cancelled. The only admin required is to correctly set the on-call recipient as required.

I understand that there are no plans for adding calendar-based oncall, but I was wondering if you had ever considered allowing the administrator to define a default recipient for an on-call group, so that the page could be routed somewhere even if all of the group members were out of their active windows ?

I was wondering if PageGate can distinguish between different types of TAP failures. Specifically, I'd like to be able to just fail messages that return "Bad ID or message content" errors, and allow others to failover. Any ideas ? Thanks !!

Along the same line - it is possible to relocate the PageGate DB to a MS SQL Server ? We do a LOT of paging, and are looking closely at disk requirements and Backup/Disaster Recovery considerations. We'd like to leverage an existing "industrial-strength" DB server if possible.

Thanks !

We purchased 6 dialers and all of the modules for the PageGate app. We received our registration key and after entering it, everything looks good, except that dialers 5 and 6 will not come up. The registration informatin shows 6 dialers, as does the DB table.

In looking at the documentation, I see that there are special files required to activate the dialers. The downloaded installer only provided PGDial 1-4. Do I need a CD to enable Dialers 5 and 6 ?
