The PGMail Service, as told by Event Viewer for Windows 2000 Server, SP4, crashes on an intermittent basis.
I have not been able to correlate the crash with any particular situation.

The scenario is that the PGMail Service stops, and the crash (sometimes) happens on the restart of that service.

Here's the event log text from the most recent:
=================================
Event Type: Error
Event Source: PGMailService
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1
Date: 12/14/2005
Time: 2:23:08 PM
User: N/A
Computer: <HOSTNAME>
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( PGMailService ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: Service stopping failed : "Access violation at address 0041763E in module 'PGMailServer.exe'. Read of address 00A5697C".
===============================

The Pagegate version is 4.0

What do I need to do to resolve this problem??
Thank you.

This is from the PGDial2.log:

4/12/2005 1:27:08 PM Program Halted. Modem error: 8002 Invalid port number in Procedure: SendTAP

Does this mean there's a configuration problem or that the modem is not responding??

Thanks Again, Sorry, I inherited this without any information....

I saw another post with the same error -- What I did:
copied the mdb file to my pc opened with MSAccess, found a null
message
deleted that record
copied the mdb back onto the server
ta-da -- pages are going.

From your fix above, I have questions:

1) Do I still need to do that procedure? It appears to be working

2) I have 6 dialers running, -- stop All of them?

3) This is ad-hoc, the recipient is like an alias -- I'd be stopping all messages.

Is there some application or db fix that I can use to stop the Null message field??

Thanks much for your help!

Hi,
From the documentation it appears that the db for pagegate is Always Open.
I'm not seeing any utility within the application to backup the db -- is there one??
If not, will a copy of the db to another directory for backup restore correctly?
Thank You!
