I just re-built my server that runs PageGate. It is now Windows 2008 R2 64 bit. I downloaded the newest binary and installed without problem. Dropped in the previous Database folder and almost everything is working just like it did prior to the rebuild. The only issue is that the Mail Server service is continually crashing. It logs a 7034 "service terminated unexpectedly" message in the Windows Event log every 20 seconds.
Any ideas?? |

Since there doesn't seem to be a comprehensive HOWTO, and a lot of incomplete threads regarding this, I thought I'd give it a shot.
You will need to purchase the PageGate license and the "GetAscii" plug-in. 1) Install PageGate application on your Orion Server. 2) From the PG Admin screen, Go to the Registration page and enter your Registration Key. Also check the "GetAscii" check-box on the Registration Page. 3) Open the "Program/Settings" page and check the "GetAscii" check-box under "run on this server:". 4) Open the "Interfaces/GetAscii/Settings" page and check the "Enabled" check-box. Select a path for the "Polling Directory". Apply the settings. 5) Right-click on the "Interfaces/GetAscii" object and select "Start". 6) Open the "Interfaces/GetAscii/Status" page to verify that the status is running. Click refresh several times until you see it running. 7) Right click the "Carriers" object and select "Add". Create a profile for your paging service using the appropriate protocol, i.e. TAP, SNPP, SMTP etc. 8) Right click the "Recipients" object and select "Add". Create a profile for a paging recipient. Check the "GetAscii" check-box. Select the "Carrier" profile created in step 7. Enter the paging device phone number in the "ID/PIN" field. change the "Max Chars" to the appropriate number, i.e 160 chars. Repeat as necessary to create multiple paging recipients. 9) (optional) Right click the "Groups" object and select "Add". Fill out the "Description" and "Group" name fields. Check the "GetAscii" checkbox under "Enabled Services". Click on "Apply". Select the "Groups/<groupname>/Email" page and create a "Mailbox Name". Select the "Groups/<groupname>/Members" page and add recipients to the "Members" box and click"Apply". 10) Right-click a recipient or group object and select "Send Message". Fill out the message form and click "Send" to test your configuration. If your texts make it to your phone, you should be able to create Orion alerts a ... |

changed to e,7,1 and that worked!! In my haste to test the new number I forgot the tweak the serial parameters..
So is this a number that is OK to use?? Will the Telecom Men in Black come track me down and rap me on the knuckles for using it? They have published the number I previously referenced as the Enterprise paging TAP gateway.. |

I'm trying to get the same thing going with Pagegate and AT&T TAP SMS messaging. I have enabled the Enterprise messaging on my cell phone and completed the profile setup on the enterprisemessaging.com site.
AT&T has published the following number for the TAP gateway: 888-298-3562. I get the following when dialing that number: 12/9/2009 10:40:06 AM ======================================== 12/9/2009 10:40:08 AM Start connection to carrier: ATT 12/9/2009 10:40:08 AM Connect using TAP protocol 12/9/2009 10:40:11 AM Setting communication parameters (9600,e,7,1) 12/9/2009 10:40:11 AM Attempting to reset modem 12/9/2009 10:40:16 AM Sent:AT<CR> 12/9/2009 10:40:17 AM Received:<CR><LF>OK<CR><LF> 12/9/2009 10:40:20 AM Modem reset 12/9/2009 10:40:20 AM Attempting to send dialer init string 12/9/2009 10:40:22 AM Sent:AT&F0Q0V1X4&D2&B1&K0&M0&N2<CR> 12/9/2009 10:40:23 AM Received:<CR><LF>OK<CR><LF> 12/9/2009 10:40:25 AM Dialer init string sent 12/9/2009 10:40:25 AM Dialing carrier 12/9/2009 10:40:28 AM Sent:ATDT1-888-298-3562<CR> 12/9/2009 10:40:36 AM Waiting for connection 12/9/2009 10:40:53 AM Received:<CR><LF>CONNECT 1200<CR><LF> 12/9/2009 10:40:53 AM Connected to carrier 12/9/2009 10:40:55 AM Waiting for protocol initialization 12/9/2009 10:40:59 AM Sent:<CR> 12/9/2009 10:41:05 AM Received:?D? 12/9/2009 10:41:05 AM Sent:<CR> 12/9/2009 10:41:11 AM Received:?D? 12/9/2009 10:41:11 AM Sent:<CR> 12/9/2009 10:41:19 AM Received:?D? 12/9/2009 10:41:19 AM Sent:<CR> 12/9/2009 10:41:27 AM Received:?D? 12/9/2009 10:41:27 AM Attempting to hang up modem It appears that the TAP gateway is asking for something "?D?". I've just setup Pagegate and attached an external USRobotics modem. The modem dials out fine when tested with HyperTerminal.
I setup some carrier entries and myself as a recipient. When a message is queued up, the Connector shows this in the log: 6/17/2009 4:27:25 PM ======================================== 6/17/2009 4:27:25 PM Start connection to carrier: TestCarrier 6/17/2009 4:27:25 PM Connect using TAP protocol 6/17/2009 4:27:25 PM Setting communication parameters (1200,e,7,1) 6/17/2009 4:27:25 PM Connected to carrier 6/17/2009 4:27:25 PM Waiting for protocol initialization 6/17/2009 4:27:25 PM Sent:<CR> 6/17/2009 4:27:28 PM Sent:<CR> 6/17/2009 4:27:32 PM Sent:<CR> 6/17/2009 4:27:37 PM Sent:<CR> 6/17/2009 4:28:18 PM ======================================== 6/17/2009 4:28:18 PM Start connection to carrier: TestCarrier 6/17/2009 4:28:18 PM Connect using TAP protocol 6/17/2009 4:28:18 PM Setting communication parameters (1200,e,7,1) 6/17/2009 4:28:18 PM Connected to carrier 6/17/2009 4:28:18 PM Waiting for protocol initialization 6/17/2009 4:28:18 PM Sent:<CR> 6/17/2009 4:28:21 PM Sent:<CR> 6/17/2009 4:28:25 PM Sent:<CR> 6/17/2009 4:28:30 PM Sent:<CR> 6/17/2009 4:28:36 PM Carrier retry limit reached.
