Hello,

Pagegate 5.0

Both recipients are email addresses, and configured identically.

Options checked are::
GetAscii
GUIClient
Type: Normal
Carrier: Email
MaxChars 512

All Checked:
Alpha
Send Subject
Drop Non Pritnables

Reliapage is NOT checked.

Will provide screenshots of recipient screen if needed.

As I said, both recipients are identical with the exception of the name and email address.

In the logs:

1 recipient:

12/2/2013 7:37:46 AM Sent:email@blablah.com:1049 WILLOW GR (etc etc)

2nd recipient:

12/2/2013 7:41:41 AM Sent:1817:email@blahblah.com:1049 WILLOW GR (etc etc)

Note how on the second recipient the 1817? Isnt that the reliapage number?

Why? And how do I turn it off? (since reliapage is already off) Ive deleted the recipient and recreated it with no luck.

So display groups will do it?

Hmm, dunno what Im doing wrong then...

By your post (which I appreciate btw) it seems you are using different clients on different PCs to message different groups. In other words you have a client at the police station, one at a fire station and one in dispatch.

We have 4 in dispatch, and no remote clients.

I think I was under the impression that display groups had something to do with who was currently logged onto the PC the client was running on, whereas in our situation all users use the same windows logon (autologon per our CAD vendor), and I dont want to restrict who can see recipient Bob based on logon, i just want to remove Bob from the GUI client altogether.

Ill re-read the manual on display groups and give it another shot.

Thanks!

Hello people!

I have an issue which is causing some real problems for us...a 911 dispatch center.

We have a few hundred recipients (Fire, EMS, Police, etc), some broken up into a few dozen different groups (Fire departments, etc), and some not...

The problem is that with so many recipients, enabling them all in the GUI client makes the GUI client list huge, and frankly almost unmanageable. The thing is, we dont ever page the vast majority of our recipients individually, 99.9% of the time they get paged as a group (fire departments). And Id venture to say that most all our recipients have NEVER been paged individually, and never will be, theyre always paged as a group.

But the issue is that if I uncheck the GUI client checkbox for a recipient, while it removes them from the GUI client list of recipients (what I want), it also prevents pages that are sent to their group from being sent to them (what I dont want: interface not enabled for this recipient). If I enable GUI client for a recipient, the pages sent to their group get sent to them, but it also puts them in the GUI client list (what I don't want)

What Id like to do is be able to enable the GUI client interface for all recipients (so that they can all be paged from the client *by paging their group*), but not have all those same recipients show up in the list *individually* in the GUI client.

Example:

Recipient Bob has GUI client checked and is a member of Group A, which also has GUI client checked.

Paging group A from the client sends Bob and the rest of his group a message.

Removing the GUI client checkbox from Bob removes Bob from the GUI client list, but also stops his messages from being sent when group A is paged. (Error: interface not enabled for this recipient)

I want to keep the number of recipients in the GUI client list as low as possible, without blocking their messages. So I suppose what Im asking is is it possible to "enable the GUI client interface" for a recipient, ...

Hello and thanks in advance for the help.

We run pagegate 5, and have a group of recepients who are not getting messages. One of the recepients does, but the rest do not. Theyre all configured the same (Same carrier, same group, same everything except the number)

In the scheduler log I note:

Message rejected for recepient xxxx in group yyy. Interface not enabled for this recipient.

This is the only error message that I can find.

This just started out of the blue, it used to work just fine.

Any logs I need to post or anything else is fine. Thanks again for the help!

But I am really tempted to switch Verizon notifications from SMTP to TAP. How long has the Verizon SMTP server been running this slow?

Im not certain, as I just recently switched from TAP to SMTP thinking that emails MUST be quicker....but as it turned out, on a message by message basis, they are (one message here and there) but when you get a group of messages going out....thats when the delays start....I wonder if its an anti spam measure?

Ive since switched back to TAP since its more reliable.

Well, Id love to use email...

But there are some serious delays involved....long delays from verizons smtp server, upwards of 30 seconds, and sometimes as much as 1m 45s (on each message)

We are a 911 center, and cant have delays like that.

Just the other day 35 messages went out at once and took 45 minutes. The call was already over and some responders were still getting pages.

I can see the delays on the log, and they all seem to be waiting on verizon to accept the recipient address. (or outright failures/retrys)

What I would want would probably be two modems, both dialing verizon TAP and splitting the message queue between the modems.

If we were to add a second connector, and DONT configure a connector to be carrier specific...will they both work at the same time and share the load?

In other words, if I have both connectors just set to default (not configuring the connector to be carrier specific), or perhaps both configured to do verizon tap messaging, and I submit 100 messages, will they both dial up and each deliver half the messages? Thereby cutting the delivery time in half?

Sample good message submitted by our CAD system:

recipient_name
E911
TEST >TEST CALL
address
XS: cross_street
community
lastname, firstname
phone_number

Bad Message submitted by CAD system:

recipient_name
TEST CALL 138 main st
XS: CHURCH ST
E911

These are taken straight from the text files our system submits to pagegate.

Now, I have edited some info above, because it was personally identifying.

Whats happening is that with the second message, pagegate is sending the "sender address" as "TEST CALL 138 main st" and appending our domain name at the end of it, and because of that, its getting rejected. Whereas in the first message, the sender address is listed as "E911@our_domain_name.com" and works just fine. (E911 is what we have set as our "Pager signature" in CAD, it can be changed)

See:

2/19/2008 20:52:48 Sent:From: <TEST CALL 138 ABC LN@domainname.com><13><10>

I can see where the problem is, I see that pagegate picks up "E911" as our "sender name" (from CAD) and appends the domain name from pagegate to it, so that good messages look like they come from E911@our_domain_name.com. But with the second message, the "E911" is at the BOTTOM of the file, and not in the second line, as it is in the first (good) file.

Whos problem is this? Our CAD vendor? Or pagegate?

There is a "sender" already programmed into CAD, its getting THIS "sender" straight out of the text file that CAD is submitting to pagegate.

Ill quote the files when I get into the office....

Ok, so our pagegate was included from our Computer Aided Dispatch vendor, InterAct Public Safety Systems (we are a 911 dispatch center).

I have since updated to version 5, and added the GUI client license.

Here is the issue...

We can send SMS messages via dial up TAP just fine, but when I changed the configuration to send them via SMTP, it fails. I suspect this is due to the way our CAD system submits the message to pagegate.

Here is a snipp of the log when sending SMTP message fails:
