| Thank you for reply. I just got back into my office.
The problem boiled down to a local PC firewall that though it was modified to allow port 25 (SMTP) outgoing messages, the policy agent was resetting it to closed. The intermitant nature was that only 8 of 1007 addresses are e-mail. The failures would only occur when one or more of those 8 were included in the group being paged. The system would go through the (setup) number of retries but it would play hob with the rest of the group list and cause a time consuming database failure (which the system would recover from). Unless someone has a question, we close this out. |

| We just moved the PAGEGATE application from one area to another. The new setup has the same number of users and setup except, the new PCs are WIN XP SP2 rather then WIN 2K. The transport is a cable modem & router.
We are getting intermitant failures of pages, or long delays in sending the pagees. The cable modem is attached to the same service as the old system, as are the paging carriers. Unfortunaltely the time of day or selection pagers that fail is not consistant, ie. no clues. Anyone got ideas ?? |
