This would change their location in the main list of recipients though and make finding them difficult for all of the users.

Ok, I just wanted to know if it could be done and I see it cannot (easily). Thank you for your assistance.

Hello.

We have a group that has some members. Some members use SNPP and some use TAP. When you send a page for this group, PageGate dials the TAP first and sends all of those messages and then hangs up and connects via the SNPP on the WAN. The problem in this case is that the TAP people on the list are lower priority than the SNPP members which need the message first. The dialing and waiting to send TAP messages eats up about 30-40 seconds before it hangs up and then utilizes the SNPP connection.

My question, is there any way to change the order of a group's members being sent the message?

Thank you,

Adam

Ah yes, I will contact them for a national number to use the area code in each number, then it would work with both TAP and SNPP.

Thanks I think that will be all.

I figured it out. For American Messaging, what we use...

TAP only uses the 7 digit phone number

SNPP uses 10 digit phone number (area code)

Does Version 5 support different ID numbers for the same recipients?

OR, what I guess I could do, it would take a long time, but I could make a duplicate entry for every single person and have the 2nd entry use the TAP ID number which is only 7 and the first entry use the 10 digit and use the SNPP, the SNPP would failover to the TAP.
In theory that would work correct? Is there any way to make recipients hidden but still active so that 2 entries for each person wouldn't show up?

I appreiciate you helping me through this. I figured out how to make each SNPP and TAP work now (and tested) but since they require different numbers, it is a pain.

Thank you, it seems to be connecting but still fails.

Apparently, American Messaging (the pager company) needs a 10 digit phone number for the pager for the SNPP and a 7 digit pager id number for TAP.

This means that I would have to go fully one way or the other correct?

I changed one user to the new SNPP setting and then sent a test page and it connected and then said Pager ID does not exist. The pager number for him is only 7 digits and the SNPP section on my piece of paper from American Messaging says that it needs the 10 digit phone number

ok I have everything entered, now I need to tell the recipients to use the new snpp, is there a faster way to change all of the recipients to the new connection or do I have to do them all manually.

Thank you for all your help

Thank you,

There are many older carriers listed also in the list, does it use them in order from top to bottom as a priority? If so, the SNPP one is already listed first and the failover on it is set to the TAP carrier (which is second on the list).

OR Do I HAVE to edit the current one TAP (listed second in the list)

To make the users actually use the SNPP address, do I have to change every single recipient to use the SNPP instead of the TAP or is there a quicker way?

Hello,

I just started here at Bath Township in Ohio as admin and need to change the current PageGate v4.0 (registered) from its current TAP as primary connection to SNPP as the primary, but have the TAP used as a backup.

I need step by step instructions on how to do this, the online manual doesn't seem to help.

I have the snpp address entered in the Carrier section of PG Admin and the TAP is also in the Carrier section.

I am confused about how to actually enable it. On the status function, only one dialer is shown active (Dialer 1). I just need to figure out how to make the SNPP the primary connection device and if neccessary, use the TAP as a failover or backup.

Thank you!
