We have PageGate 5.0 and the files are named
pgedbbak.mdb
pgedbtmp.mdb

These are being created at midnight. They are both the same size as pagedate.mdb.

If I had a reason to do a restore, what would be the procedure - possibly as simple as just rename one of the files (which one, or, it doesn't matter)?

I checked the provided help files and was surprised this basic information isn't provided. Perhaps you can update the help files with your answer. Thanks.

I can't re-create this issue either. Maybe we can blame it on a quirk of a video driver or Windows Server 2008.

I changed the desktop resolution in my RDP session to 1280x1024 and now the PG Admin window resizes (floats). Does this make sense?

Recently installed PageGate version 5.0. Now getting ready to cut-over from an old 4.0 system.

Just a minor annoyance really, but unless you think to "Maximize" there is no way to launch PG Admin from the running Quick Launch menu icon. The v5.0 PG Admin window won't "float". The only option to display it (and configure PageGate) is Maximize. Strange, at first couldn't open PG Admin until I thought to right-click on the taskbar icon and select "Maximize".

PageGate is running on Windows Server 2008 32-bit (not R2). Using RDP to access the desktop to launch PG Admin (1024x768 RDP session window size). The server happens to be virtual, but that shouldn't matter.

Is this a bug? Is there a simple work-around?

Thank you for the response. Not sure if we will go down this path or not. Partly because if what SolarWinds is trying to page us about is a problem with the Exchange server, then we don't want Exchange between SolarWinds and PageGate! I am trying not to make this any more complicated than necessary.

1) PageGate is running on its own server on the enterprise network (Windows 2008 32bit). Licensed for web gateway. Has serial connectivity to enterprise paging system/antenna and serial connectivity with modem on telephone line to place outbound paging calls to external paging services.
2) SolarWinds Orion NPM (network performance monitor) is running on its own server on the enterprise network (Windows 2003 32bit). It does not have any serial connectivity.

How do I configure PageGate and SolarWinds so that SolarWinds can be set to send pages to PageGate?
:: If I were to license (for example) the GetAscii module in PageGate, how do I configure SolarWinds to place the needed info into a file for PageGate to consume?
:: We also have an Exchange server and currently use SolarWinds to send e-mail alerts. Could I send an e-mail to PageGate (what module would I need to license do to that?)

Thanks in advance.

We bought v4 long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Bought upgrade v5 nearly 2 years ago. Project to upgrade server got shelved.

Since then organization has changed address.

Project to upgrade server and PageGate v5 is now on front burner. I was able to register the v5 install using the old key from the v5 license bought 2 years ago. But when I typed in the address info, etc., the first time it complained I had made an error. Of course, I typed in the original (but now invalid street address - literally, that building was torn down and the land sold to a developer) and so the program is running.

Can I get a new key with the correct address?

As I read the instructions and forum posts it appears that the only time to convert the v4 database is immediately after a fresh install. However, I'd like to:

1) Do a fresh install of v5 on a new server, convert a v4 database, play with the new v5 release using a copy of the production database.

2) Test for a while, modifying the converted database willy-nilly not caring about keeping it synchronized with actual production v4 database.

3) Schedule the production cut-over, re-copy the v4 production database to the v5 server, have it convert cleanly.

Can I do this? How?
