Yes...we are currently running Version 8.4 of Pagegate on a Windows 7 box (as the Pagegate server) and will need to upgrade the box to Windows 10. I'm planning on just doing an in place upgrade of the OS to Windows 10.
Thanks! Drew |

Our Pagegate server is running on a virtual Windows 7 Enterprise (x64) box. Does Pagegate have any issues with Windows 10? I'm planning on just running an in place upgrade of the OS on this box to get it to Windows 10 before Windows 7 extended support ends in January.
Any 'gotchas' for Pagegate and Windows 10? Thanks! Drew |

Registration information shows 2 in connectors.
In Program/Settings, Pagegate is running as a Windows Service and only Connector 1 and 2 are checked. But on the PG Monitor, currently, on the left hand side between Client and Pending, the monitor shows 14 good connectors and 0 bad connectors. I do see in the second column Connector1 shows 10 good and Connector2 shows 4 good. Maybe Connectors in the left is just a sum total of pages sent? I was thinking it should just show 2 since we have 2 connectors. Everything after Connector2 in the second and third column is Red with 0/0 as I'd expect with only using two connectors. Thanks! Okay...thanks! I'll try and figure out how to check that and dig further. I also notice that the PG Monitor shows 8 for Connectors at the moment. They are all shown green under the Good column. I was thinking that we should just show with 2 good connectors always but maybe I am misunderstanding connectors. I don't remember it showing as any more than 2 before but I could be wrong and just hadn't noticed it. Just wanted to be sure this is right and that I haven't broken some functionality! :)
Thanks! Drew |

Thanks! I've got it with just one space on each side of the equals and the Case right on the value. Doesn't seem like it waits the full 60 between SMTP commands. I think maybe the 60 is just for the initial connection and then US Cellular's SMTP server is just not responding fast enough and is causing Pagegate to respond with a No Response. Maybe US Cellular is working on something. Not sure what else to try for them. If I just email a US Cellular number from Outlook, they get the page pretty quickly. Weird!

Okay...gotcha. Replaced the connector and still get this verbage preceded by the date time stamp in the connector log for a text to US Cellular:
Trying host: av1.mx.uscc.net Connected to av1.mx.uscc.net (5:03:04pm) No response (5:03:34pm) (Looks like it didn't wait the full 60 I specified). Or maybe the 60 is just for initial connection?) Seems like its something weird with US Cellular. Seems to be connecting now with no problem. I notice if I telnet manually to the US Cellular server, it does answer...but seems to take it about 42 seconds. Drew |

It looks like the 8.4.1 update must have already updated the connector. My pgdial1.exe file in the program folder is 2,817 KB and the properties say 8.4.0.1.
Same information given if I look at properties of the downloaded connector update file. And if I look at Connector1 now, it already has a place for Template and then a Settings box. I think I can just stop it, add the timeout, and restart it. Drew |

Gotcha...and if we use connector 2 as well, I'd just need to copy the same file to pgdial2 in addition, right?
Drew Drew, There's an updated build of the connector that has a new setting to allow end users to control the time-out value. If you would: 1) Download the updated connector: https://www.notepage.net/download/dev/pgdial1.exe 2) Open PG Admin. 3) Expand 'Connectors', right click 'Connector 1' and select 'Stop'. 4) Copy the file from step 1 in to the PageGate program directory, overwriting the existing file. 5) Right click 'Connector 1' and select 'Start'. 6) Go to Connectors - Connector 1 - Template. 7) Specify the following in the 'Settings' section: SMTPConnectTimout = NumberOfSeconds For example, this would increase the timeout to 40 seconds: SMTPConnectTimout = 40 8) Click Apply. If you need anything else or if that doesn't work as intended, please let us know. |

We just upgraded to the latest and greatest last week...pagegate 8.4
Drew To double check, which version and build of PageGate are you using? to find out, open PG Admin and it should be in the lower left hand corner of the splash screen and will look something like 6.x.x, 7.x.x, 8.x.x, etc. |

That ended up being part of the problem! I think I've got that resolved now. But, from the server, if I telnet to US Cellular's SMTP server on port 25, it takes it about 40 seconds before I get the welcome greeting of ESMTP and the connection is there. None of the other carriers take this long. Agonizing! Same results whether hitting av1, av2, sc1, or sc2 .mx.uscc.net
I think this long of a wait is causing the Pagegate connecter to have problems, like a time out or something. Is there somewhere in Pagegate that I can tell it to wait longer for the SMTP server to respond for US Cellular? Thanks! Drew Ah-ha! There's the bit of information we needed. Based on that response, it looks like the public IP your PageGate server sits behind has managed to end up on at least one naughty list. You'll definitely want to go to the link provided to determine why the IP is on the Spamhaus lists but you'll also want to go to www.whatismyipaddress.com and use their "Blacklist Check" utility to see if it's on any other lists as well. Once the IP is cleared from the block lists, your traffic should be allowed through again. |

I get a 554 vzw-ibgw-6001a.stratus.cloudmark.com cmsmtp Connection Rejected - see http://www.spamhaus.org/query/ip/173.212.35.221
Connection to host lost..... Drew, Let's try a test to a different host to see what the response is. If you would: telnet smtpin02.vzw.a.cloudfilter.net 25 Do you get a 220 response or a 'could not open a connection to the host on port 25' response? |

No response on the server when telnetting to av1.mx.uscc.net 25
However, I also tried to telnet to mail.cwwsms.com 25 which is the server for another carrier we use in Pagegate. Messages sent thru Pagegate for it are working with no problems. But it also gets a Could not open connection to the host on the Pagegate server when I try it from a command prompt. So, that's puzzling! Drew
It looks like you may have a typo in the host name. You'll want to try to connect to av1.mx.uscc.net instead of av.mx.uscc.net
|

Woops...scratch that....I tried again and got the below:
telnet av.mx.uscc.net 25 Connecting To av.mx.uscc.net...Could not open connection to the host, on port 25 : Connect failed Hi! When going to a command prompt on the Pagegate server and executing this command, I never receive a reply. I just get a frozen cursor. I suppose I should get a login prompt to the smtp server? Thanks! Drew There's a test we'd like you to run from the PageGate server itself (it won't yield relevant results if you run it from a workstation): 1) In Windows, run a command prompt. 2) In the command prompt, type the following and hit enter: telnet av1.mx.uscc.net 25 What response do you receive? |

Hi Gang:
We have a few recipients on our Pagegate 8.x server who are all of a sudden not receiving pages from Pagegate. In the Pagegate connector when I send a test page to a US Cellular number, I see: Trying host: av1.mx.uscc.net Connected to: av1.mx.uscc.net Disconnected - State: Error Pagegate then tries connecting to av2.mx.uscc.net, sc1.mx.uscc.net, and sc2.mx.uscc.net All four connect but then immediate get disconnected. The message retry limit fails and pagegate marks the message as failed. The format of the email of the recipient we are using is 10dignumber@email.uscc.net I have also tried changing the email to the number @smtp.uscc.net and @uscc.textmsg.com Same results there. Has anyone seen this or have any ideas on what may be amiss? Thanks! Drew |
