It is Registered and yes, I did an upgrade on the database. However, I think I updated the registration after I upgraded the database. If I copied over a new copy of the database from the old server and ran the upgrade again now that it's registered, do you think that might fix the issue?

The import worked great. I now have all of my groups and recipients. I did find one problem today. I was sending a test message and received the message that the service was not enabled for the recipient. I checked the settings and no Services are enabled for any of my Recipients. All of the other settings seem to have imported. I have close to 600 recipients in my database. Please tell me there is an easy way to fix this.

I am in the process of migrating my resources to a new domain and new servers. I copied the existing PageGate (v5) logs and database to a new server. I then installed v6 on the new server. I received the message that a new database was created during the install. After the install was finished, I updated the settings in the Admin program to point to the location of the existing files. However, the database in that location is new and has none of the information. Can I recopy the database from the existing server onto the new server?

I am still having issues with this module. Currently I am running PageGate v 5.0.9 on a Windows 2003 R2 server.

I am in Texas and also having the same problem. It is probably not your network but a problem with Nextel. Also, just FYI, the pecos.nextel.com is no longer in service. You should be using snpp.nextel.com or msnsnpp.nextel.com.

I found the solution to my problem. The local website I am using has my paging in a subweb directory. When the website was published to the new server, the subwebs did not publish. My GetWeb settings were referencing a directory that did not exist. Once the subweb was published to the new server and all of the directory information update, the service enabled and is running fine. The settings in my GetWeb were autopopulated from the database once it was copied to the new server. However, when I made changes to the directory settings I never received an error message that the directories did not exist.

Just to update, I have also uninstalled Symantec and disabled Windows DEP from the bootini. However, I am not able to check Enable even when it is running.

I have recently installed a new server runnin Windows 2003 R2 Standard. I have currently installed PageGate version 5.0.6. When I began configuring my settings, I have GetWeb enabled as a service running on the server. However, the service keeps stopping for an unknown reason. If I start the service from the Admin program, it shows to start, but I am unable to enable it from the GetWeb settings. When I check my services running on the server, the GetWeb service is not running. If I manually start the service, it will start and then stop within a few seconds. I have tried changing the logon properties to run as an administrator account rather than as the local system account with the same result. I have Windows DEP enabled for windows services only. The only real change I have made to my server is to install Symantec AntiVirus Server.

I thought I would forward this information I received directly from Sprint support.

"I did some research on the issue and it appears that because of the increasing level of spam coming to the Sprint network our internal team is blacklisting IP addresses which they think has the remote possibility of being Spam. Quite a few customers are experiencing this on the public paging platform as a result of which there is a 2 week lag if not more in getting a wrong blacklisted IP address reverted back to a white listed IP address..."

They have offered to come out and discuss some 'other paging options' with us, but I am sure those won't be free.

I thought about the pggmail also.

Yes, I am using the 'Forward Copy to' function. I am not using a POP server though and I only use the GetMail to send SMTP, not receive.

After installing PageGate 5.0.6 on a new server running Windows 2003 SP2 I am unable to send SMTP messages. I ran a port scan through the Tools menu and it shows Port 25 as available, but not checked. However, when I ran netstat from a command prompt on my server, it shows pgmailserver.exe listening on Port 25. It also doesn't work if I set my SMTP to Relay all Mail through my company's Exchange server.

I also ran into a problem where the Windows DEP was blocking pgmailserver.exe. I managed to exclude it from the DEP service, but it has not resolved the issue.

Also, my logs for SMTP Outgoing show repeated attempts to connect to the Exchange server for a list of recipients. Is this because I have their messages automatically forwarded to their email accounts?

I have now installed the newest version of PageGate v5.0.6 onto a new server. I no longer receive logs with errors for the GetMail server. However, my application event logs on the server log several errors for the PGMailServer. The errrors state 'handle is invalid' and 'Access violation at address 004BE2C7 in module 'pgmailserver.exe'. Read of address 00000000.' I have PageGate running as the system service account.

All of my messaging seems to be working except to SMTP clients. All of the SMTP messages fail without connecting to the carrier. I ran a Port scan from the server and Port 25 is available, but not checked. I ran netstat from the server and it showed that pgmailserver.exe was listening on that port.

I tried to Relay all Mail to my Exchange server and it does not seem to be making a connection either. I also tried to setup a recipient to forward messages to their email account and that does not go through either.
...My best recommendation is that you find an SMTP Server (either a local Exchange server or your ISP's) that you can use to deliver your SMTP based messages to Sprint. If either host requires Authentication, you'll definitely need to upgrade to PageGate version 5 (if you aren't already using it) because version 4 can't handle SMTP authentication.
Can you tell me how this could be accomplished? I tried to set my GetMail to relay all mail to my local Exchange server and I cannot get it to work. My IS dept has configured the server to allow connections from my server with no change. I am using PageGate v5.0.6

PostForum: PageGate Support   Posted: Wed Dec 12, 2007 3:18 pm   Subject: Install of New Server
I am in the process of installing a new server on my network. Currently, all of my users are still connected to my old server. I am installing the PG server onto the new server with a copy of the database locally and the settings to point to that new server for testing. I want to make sure that everything works from the new server before I switch over my clients.

Is there a problem with running the paging server on two separate machines on the same network that do not share a database?
