I changed the "carrier" setting from smtp to snpp and changed the host to snpp.alltel.net. The "ID/PIN" for the receipients who use Alltel was changed to reflect only their 10 digit phone number, nothing else. Easy as that.

After speaking with Alltel, SMTP no longer works. Meaning that FROM PAGEGATE or similar programs, you will not be able to send messages to SMTP Alltel any longer. You must use SNPP. Which brings me to my next question. My license is only good for 1 connector which I am using for SMTP to my other carriers. Do I need to get another connector license to use SNPP and if not how would I go about setting this up?

Absolutely no configurations were changed what so ever! I am using the get serial interface and smtp out to the various carriers. Using Outlook, I can send him email/txt messages which he successfully receives. Also, txt messages sent from other devices outside of page gate and outlook are successfully recieved. Anyone got any ideas? I suspect alltel however, just like always, it's not their problem. Any ideas will be welcomed...

Do I set up the message (left side) exactly as it's written, spaces and all other characters included? Or are single words within the message all that is required to set up the filter? The manual is vague concerning this issue. Secondly, where do I set up the filter (lookup table)? I currently have it set up under "Get Serial" and the lookup table is active for "Recipients". I have two "Data In" parameters set up and the "Data Out" is set to go to a "nopages" group I have set up so that no one gets the pages. When I check the log, there is an error message stating "rejected". Perhaps a phone conversation would be more productive?

The messages above are just two examples of how my messages are formatted. There are many, many more but this is the general layout. For example, the first message needs to be sent to one recipient or specific recipients within a group. While the second message would be sent out to all recipients.
Also, there may instances where I would not want the message sent to anyone.

I'm currently demo-ing PG and in my setup, I'm using the get serial interface to sample ascii text. My question is this: Precisely how do I filter a message and then send that message to a specific recipient or group of when NO recipient information exists within the sampled ascii text? To put it another way, I'm getting all alarms (ascii text) input to the page gate program for processing. However, not everyone gets all the alarms. How (precisely) do I set up page gate to send certain alarms (pages) to certain people but not others? I've tried the lookup table option and it will not send out the page. I get "recipient record not found". It does work on static recipient though.

I'm familiar with the procedure but I was unsure of the syntax. There is NO user information contained within the "Data In" stream coming in on the get serial port. Can I still get a message that has the word "Temperature" in it and send it out to whomever I wish by using the procedure you described? Simply type in a key word on the in side and the name of a recipient in the out side correct?

I'm running through an evaluation copy of Page Gate to test it's functionality with my setup. I have different alarms reported that I am sampling with get serial and sending out to mobile devices as text messages. For example, 5551234567@txt.att.com. The alarms that are reported have different text and obviously meanings. My issue is, not every person needs every alarm. Does Page Gate have the ability to filter every message and then send that specific message(s) to certain individuals or groups? How does one accomplish this?
