Got it working - I am using a combination of different interfaces.
The one that was giving me trouble was using the PageGate as a SMTP relay. I would point my SMTP alarm generation software to PageGate and configure a reciepient. Then send a SMTP message to PageGate and have the reciepient set as email only and then PageGate would send SMTP out to our Exchange server.
I now have this working with the help here.

Thanks,

Andy

Can anyone verify the Postmaster address is the sender address in their SMTP request?

I really need to get this relay working with our Exchange setup and this sender address issue is the only thing not working.

Thanks,

I have set the postmaster to a vaild account previously and just verified that it is set correctly.

This error above occurs when I set a recipient to forward a copy to their external (non-pagegate) e-mail address.

It appears that the forward is not using the postmaster address as the from in the SMTP request?

Hello,

We have been changing our e-mail infrastructure and I am now having some problems with Pagegate relaying mail via SNMP.

The error logs show that the e-mail is being denied at our Exchange server gateway due to a invalid username. It appears that the 'Mail From' field changes based on the e-mail?

Is there a way I can set the 'Mail From' to a specific e-mail account? I need to be able to set this to a valid account on our mail server.

Sincerely,

Andy Bradley

One last question.

If I setup recipients that do not have Get Mail/Web/GUI enabled (those are the options we have licensed) can I use them solely as backups to the normal recipients? That is to say that I have 25 licensed users but have 25 setup with GetMail/GetWeb and another 25 setup as backups with none of the GetMail/Web enabled.

I don't want to see the backup accounts in any list or have users contact the dial-up users directly. I only want them to exist as backups should the Internet link go out.

But, I also want to maintain correct licensing on the Pagegate system.

Would this be acceptable for the licensing? It appears that I can add the users but I have not tested the failover with the backup user(s) haveing none of the options enabled.

Thanks for the help,

Andy

Ok - I can do that.

But - won't I have to have double the number of licenses for recipients in this case? I really don't have 50 recipients, just 25 recipients that have two seperate connections?

Hello,

I have setup a Pagegate system that is using SNPP to send the pages and it works great.

What I am not attempting is to setup a dial-up modem to dial out in the event of a failure of our Internet connection (this just happened to us).

In each recipients ID/PIN field I have the settings for the SNPP. I have a different PIN number that needs to also be in this field for the dial account to work. We are using IndianaPaging and their system accepts the PIN number to determine who to send the page to via TAP.

Can I have multipule entries in the ID/PIN field? I have tried a / between entries and it only seems to accept what is before the /.

Thoughts and/or suggestions?

Thanks,

Andy

Ok, so I should have caught this earlier.

I found that I did not have the fully qualified AD directory name in the GetMail setup. I was just using reawire.com instead of corp.reawire.com.

Once I changed to the full domain name all of my problems went away.

Hello,

I have a problem where a piece of software is sending a SMTP mail to the Pagegate server. Upon receipt of the request it is sending the approprate page - but it is also then initiating a SMTP mail request to itself. This mail loop continues about every 30 seconds until I reboot the server. Stopping/Starting Pagegate and all it's services does not seem to stop the loop.

The e-mail address that it is attempting to deliver to is not what is being sent to the SMTP service. The initial request is being directed to lfweb.corp.reawire.com and a delivery address of abradley@reawire.com. This is delivered OK to the abradley account recipient on Pagegate (an alpha page via SNPP). I don't understand where the abradley@lfweb.corp.reawire.com is coming from. There is no forwarding address in the abradley account either.

See below for example log files:

The 172.28.20.101 server is the IP address of the machine that Pagegate is installed on (lfweb.corp.reawire.com).

Any Thoughts?

BTW - I have temporarly set the Target=_blank attribute to the form so that it will open the response page in a new window.

I don't really like this as the Target is not supported in strict HTML and it does open yet another window for them to close.

But - this does become a quick work-around until a better solution is presented.

I have just run into a situation where I also need to bypass the response page.

We have a setup for our technicians that they are going to select the users that are currently on shift to send pages to. Once they hit the response page and return their selections for the users are gone.

Is there a way to trap these responses and return them inside of a Javascript alert box instead of the response page?

I have been messing with scripts to return the users to a page that remembers who they had selected but I'm not someing up with anything elegant....

Any Thoughts?

Oh - I did just notice that it takes exactly 10 seconds from startup till the error message occurs in the log.
Scheduler is set to 5 sec scans.

Tried that - no help.
Is there anything that should be listed in the Windows services listing? The only thing that I have is hte PGmailservice.

Is there a way to manually check the scheduler service and/or restart it?

Hello,

I have setup our Pagegate system on a new server and now all of our messages are stuck in pending.

The logs show the following error
"Unable to synchronized time with scheduler. Using local time"
I looked this up and the answer was that the scheduler was not running - but the PGAdmin program show the scheduler as running.

How do I fix this?

Win2k3 Server with the program running normally under an Admin login - we will convert this to a service when everything is running OK.

I have rebooted and still receive the same error.
(I need to limit the number of reboots on this server as it is in service).

There are 4 Pagegate services (PageGate, PageGate Dialer1, PageGate GetMail, PageGate Scheduler) and 1 PGMailService services and they are all set to manual.

Thoughts?

Andy
