I think I am right in saying that I can't send a message using my local internet providors mail server (Rogers) as they don't allow smtp messages without authentication ie. password. as far as I can tell there is no provision in Notepager to enter a password as part of the communication handshake. If this is true (I would like clarification) then is it possible using the DNS method instead. I have seen other posts on here that suggest this is workable but it says that we have to contact Rogers for the DNS settings. Does anyone know this will work if I go to the trouble of spending hours on the phone with Rogers to find out the DNS's.

As a newby on this forum I think it would be great to have a forum headed "Solutions that work" and then catagorized under carrier and then sub catagorized "sending from" and "Sending to". This would save hours of looking through each post. what do you think.

P.S. I found the solution for SNPP from Rogers internet to Rogers cellphone. - it's in another post dated same as this.

I have been battling with this forever and the problem always came down to Notepager not having a field for Authorization/password. Whenever you're setting Rogers email up you need the account name and password. Notepager doesn't allow for a password and so when you send the text it gets thrown out by the server.
I have tried all the other protocols and finally found a solution using SNPP which is better than SMTP anyway.

Carrier setup:
1. Carrier : RogersSNPP (or whatever you want to call it)
2. Protocol : SNPP (from drop down list)
3. Host : 205.205.178.15
4. Password : Leave blank
5. Port : 444
6. Max Chars: 240 (didn't change this so maybe more will work too)
7. Msg Limit : 0

Recipient setup:
1. Full Name : Recipient name (whatever you want to call it)
2. Short Name: Grey'd out
3. Type : Normal
4. Carrier : RogersSNPP (or whatever you used in Carrier step 1.)
5. ID/PIN : ########## (ten digit phone number inc. area code)
6. Comment1 : Blank
7. Comment2 : Blank
8. Max Chars : 240
9. Notify Code : 999
10. check the boxes for Alpha and Drop non-printable characters

This works perfectly for me every time and is very quick. I send my messages from the rogers network (cable) and I have a rogers phone. I think it should also work even if you're connecting to a different internet service providor but the recipient has to be a rogers cellphone user.
