Thanks,

Have checked System & Application logs, all clear, only the stopping & restarting of the modules at midnight.

Will try Hyperterminal next time the port stops responding and see what results I get.

Over the past few months (Can't pinpoint the exact date it started) I have noticed that PageGate reports that it is unable to open com5 - Port in use or doesn't exist.

To fix the issue, I've rebooted the server (Win2008 R2 64bit) and all is well. I've checked all connectors and only #6 is using com5, don't use GetSerial or GetTAP, so they're not interfering with #6.

So far I found the following in the log for Connector 6;

When I enable the GetASCII module to process inbound SMS messages, it processes the message, but then restarts processing the same message continuously until I stop the module.

I have tried starting the service as Local, Local Administrator & Domain Administrator with the same result.

We are running Version 7.0.6 but we have had the same issue from the beginning (initial purchase was Version 6).

Has anyone successfully enabled Two-Way SMS using GetASCII and the preproc files as provided by Support team?

Due to the discontinued support for Windows XP, we are looking to eventually upgrade our workstations to Windows 7 or 8.1, and I am just testing all the applications we require on Windows 8.1

When I try to install PageGate (6.0.15, Run as Administrator) I get the error message:

pgsetup.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point InternetSetCookieExW could not be located in dynamic link library c:\Windows\System32\urlmon.dll

When I Click OK, the installer screen them appears ready for me to select Client GUI and/or Additional PG Admin

Select Install Option and the error reappears, Click OK and installation starts as per normal.

Anyone had issues installing on Windows 8.1? How did you resolve the issue?

Thanks in advance

I've used Excel 2003 & 2010 with the same result. I'll send a copy of the latest export to support so you can experiment with the same file I'm creating.

When Logs are backed up at midnight, the folder name is created with the MM-DD-YYYY format, which mixes 2012 & 2013 dates together.

Can this format be changed to YYYY-MM-DD so the folders are sorted by Year rather than Month?

Is there a way to create reports in Tab Delimited format instead of the default Comma Separated Values format? The comma is used regularly for punctuation in our call centre and plays havoc with the Monthly Recipient Sent Messages report when creating our Pivot Table in MS Excel

I'll sift through the logs for the past week (could take awhile). Also planning on moving PageGate to an XP Pro workstation due to W2k8 driver issues with the Dial-up modems needed for RFS Pagers.

The current server also has IIS installed in prep for Sharepoint, XP will dedicated to PageGate and nothing else so maybe that's the issue, too much happening on the server

Just had a staff member advise that two workstations were very slow to respond, first was still opening PageGate, whilst the second was trying to filter the recipients before sending a message. It can take over 1minute for the GUI to open and then another 20-30sec for a filter request to respond before we can start to type the message.

When we are dealing with Rural Fire Services and Volunteer Rescue units, the delay is too long.

Any additional tests we can run to track down the bottleneck?

Thanks,

I've disabled PG Monitoring, will let the system run like this for a few days to see if staff notice any difference and get back to you

Since the upgrade to Version 6, we have noticed that when a workstation opens Pagegate, it takes several minutes for the GUI to open, then the response to enter messages and select recipients is very slow. It doesn't happen every time we open PG, but when it does happen it's when we need it most to dispatch a Rescue squad or Rural Fire Brigade.

PG is running on the same server since we installed V5.0, the only change is the upgrade to V6 and the addition of several recipients .

Anyone else experienced this or have any clues that might help narrow the cause?

A quick question,

now that we have this 4 port modem (not fully populated) is there an easy way to change all the recipients to the new modem (SMS-4)

i.e. change everyone's carrier from internal_server to SMS-4 EASILY?

Hi Aaron,

just an update. Changed the Serial ports on the USB 4port modem to below Com17. Configured PageGate with new Carrier (SMS-4) on Connector 3, set myself up to use that carrier and successfully sent SMS on second attempt. First attempt failed because I counted the ports from Left to right, forgot Chinese count right to left.

Hi Aaron,

Modem arrived yesterday, just got to hook up today. Yep, first issue, the 4 "modems" are recognised as USB Serial ports (21 to 24), no drivers supplied with modem. PageGate only has 16 Serial ports in the available list, just forcing Windows to reassign lower com port numbers.

Will let you know how it goes.
