Thanks much for the info Dave. Unfortunately I nor does any of my staff have that in our skillset. I have do some light scripting and small UNIX programs (very small) and wirte HTML but that's about the extent of it.

Does your front-end record or put in the page the user from which it came?

Is it possible you would be willing to donate the code to me in the hopes I can edit it for our use? I work for a mid-sized police dept in Louisiana and the code would never get used beyond our confines.

Thanks much,
Donald

I have Getweb working well now. Its a very nice light client.

But I have 1 issue with it, is there anyway that is known to force the html page to grab the logged in user name from the person making the page?

Another words just like the GUI client does where the from field is the %USERNAME% variable?

I have several hundred users who when left to their own devices can act like children. The FROM field keeps them in check.

Thanks again,
Donnie

I am currently running PageGate V4 and have recently gotten getweb runing on IIS. The way I have it setup is that all recipients belong to 1 particlular group and I set that group for getweb (using guilist.htm).

This works fine except that everytime you update the group (IE adding a user) it recreates the html file to add the new people and it then blows out the proper address for webgate.exe as it reverts back to http://127.0.0.1/scripts/webgate.exe.

Is there a way to make it regen the html file with the proper setting OR is there a better way to do this?

Thanks,
Donald

Thank you for the info.

I was using the Guilist one just because it worked and looked similar to the gui client my users are accustomed to seeing. Are any of the other templates recipient based or are they all based off of group membership like guilist?

THanks again

I have setup PageGate Web and have a question.

I am using the "guilist" template. Is there an easy way to have all users available in the list? It appears that PageGate Web only works per user or group so that a custom page is created for that user or group ?

My goal would be for it to behave just as the Gui Client in that all users and groups are available from one single web page.

I think it can be doen by making an "all group" and adding everyone to it but I have many users so that would be a pain to have to add them all seperatly into one super group.

Is there an easier way to accomplish what I am trying to do?

Thank again

We use PageGate over a decent sized network and use the GUI client for the most part.

Because of this I have shared the directory pagegate is in for the clients to connect to the DB. This does work well except for the fact that I have to share that directory to everyone.

I would like to keep this as secure as is reasonable and lock it down so that users cannot just go into the Logs directory and edit them or delete some part of the program in an effort to break it (unlikely but possible).

At this point I have the directory shared with "Everyone" having read and write permission (not Full Control). I also have the "Logs" directory set to only have local Admin access.

I would like to make it more secure then this if possible but I of course do not want to disable the program. What is the best way for me to do this?

- Do the clients only need access to the DB file?
- If so can the DB file be moved away from the rest of the program?

Thank you

I apologize for the generallity of this question.

At my agency we have a problem with people complaining about delayed pages, dropped pages. My question is, is this a failure of Pagegate itself or of the carrier?

I have of yet to be able to prove just how bad the problem may or may not be (I have just started to investigate). Report wise it seems that very few pages "fail".

Any words of wisdom?

THank you

Hi, we use PageGate 4 (have for a year or more now) and love it.

Outside of using the proper settings (7,E,1) what is the proper BAUD rate to use generally? We use MetroCall Louisiana in the New Orleans area.

Thank you
