PageGate TouchTone Setup Video Tutorial

Video tutorial that explains PageGate TouchTone Setup

Before we begin, the GetTouchTone Module module requires the PageGate GetASCII module to function properly. For steps on how to configure the GetASCII module, please watch our Basic GetASCII configuration tutorial at our website, www.notepage.net

Also, it should be noted that any modem that you use MUST be a voice modem. Only voice modems are capable of interpreting touch tones. DataFax modems that do not have the voice capability cannot interpret touch tones at all.

The GetTouchTone Module module for PageGate allows the program to monitor a modem for incoming touch tones.

The first step is to configure the initialization file for the server.

In Windows, go to your start menu, then left click on Run.

PageGate Serial Setup Video Tutorial

Video tutorial that explains PageGate Serial Setup

In this tutorial, we will be going over what the GetSerial module is, how it works, and how to configure the basic options.

Before we begin the configuration, let me first explain what the GetSerial module is and how it works.

The GetSerial module is a part of PageGate that can monitor a serial port or COM port for a data stream.

For example, if you are integrating with a server monitoring utility or a nursing station call system, those types of programs have the ability to output data via serial port and RS-232 cable.

The GetSerial module can monitor the serial port, read in that data stream, parse the data contained within it, and send the data out an SMS message or page to a mobile device.

So, the first step is to run the program, so go to your start menu, go to programs, find the PageGate program group, and left click on the PageGate Admin.

The first step is to run the PageGate Admin, so go to your start menu, go to programs, find the PageGate program group, and left click on the PageGate Admin.

Before we begin, there are two different types of failovers. There is a carrier level failover and a recipient level failover.

The carrier level failover tells PageGate that in the event that a carrier is unreachable via one protocol, it should attempt to deliver the messages through a secondary protocol or method.

The recipient level failover tells PageGate that in the event that messages fail to a specific recipient, those messages should instead be delivered to another recipient.

To set the carrier level failover, left click on the + next to the carriers section.
Here in the Global Connector settings, you will see these four options.

The Polling Interval is the number of seconds that the connectors check for new data from the scheduler. By default, it does this every 5 seconds but you can set it as low as every second if you prefer.

Next we have The Dial Threshold. This value represents the number of messages that a single connector will attempt to handle before passing the extra messages to the next connector in the sequence. This value is only referenced if you are using multiple connectors.

The first step is to run the PageGate Admin on the Primary Server, so go to your start menu on the Primary Server, go to Programs, find the PageGate program group, and left click on PageGate Admin.

Once in the admin, left click on the + next to the Database Section.

In the Database section, left click on the Synchronization section.

Since this is the Primary Server, left click on the Export section.

In the export section, you should see these options.

The first option is Enable Automatic Export.

If this is enabled, the primary server will export the data that the secondary servers will then import to synchronize their data.

The next option is Export interval. This is the number of minute between synchronizations. By default, this is 60 minutes but you can set it as low as 1 minute, if you need to.
Before we begin, this integration requires NotePager Pro to be installed and configured on the same computer that the PageGate Monitor is running on. For more information on how to install and configure NotePager Pro, please watch our NotePager Pro tutorials on our website, www.notepage.net

The first step is to run the program, so go to your start menu, go to Programs, find the PageGate program group, and left click on PageGate Monitor.

Once in the monitor, go to File - Setup.

In the Setup screen, you should see the NotePager Pro Alerts section.

The first box is NPP Recipient. In this field, you'll need to enter the name of a recipient or group in NotePager Pro that you would like these alerts sent to. This must match the short name of the recipient or group, not the full name.

If log to disk is checked, the program will write the log files to the hard drive. If this is unchecked, PageGate will not log anything.

Below that, we have Logging Level. More often than not, you want to leave this on Debug, which is the most detailed logging type. If you want, though, you can have PageGate write the Detailed log or keep only a brief summary of information in its logs.

Next we have Archive Logs.
The first step is to run the PageGate Client, so find the icon on your desktop and double click on it.

Scheduling a message allows you to tell PageGate not to deliver the message immediately but to deliver it at a later date and time.

You can also have the program repeat the message at a specified interval as well.

Once in the program, you will want to select the recipient, group, or series of recipients and groups you want this scheduled message to go to.

After selecting your recipients, type the message you would like sent in the Message Text box.

After entering the message, left click on the Options button.

In the Advanced Message Options, you will notice three sections: Send Message When, Resend Message Every, and Stop Sending Message.
The first step is to run the PageGate admin, so go to your start menu in Windows, go to Programs, find the PageGate program group, and run the PageGate Admin.

Before we begin, it should be noted that since the GetWeb module uses a template based system, any customizations or edits that you make MUST be done to the template, not to the index or default html pages.

If you make a change to the index or default page, the next time the GetWeb module republishes the information based on the template, you will lose any edits that you have made.

Video tutorial that explains PageGate GetWeb Basic Template Setup

By default, the GetWeb module comes with the following templates:

Ad-Hoc, Any User, Basic, GUI List, List, and MultiPage

I'll be splitting these templates into two groups: Those that provide a user list based on a group and those that are tied to a single recipient or group.

The following web page templates are tied to a specific recipient or group and do not generate an available list of recipients to select from:

The Ad-Hoc Template allows you to create a paging website where the user may enter any ID or Email address in the provided field instead of having a static list of recipient to select from. This Email address or ID phone number does not need to match the name of a recipient in PageGate, it allows the end user to type in the literal information to send to.
Here in the settings of the GetMail module, you will see the following fields.

The Local Domain field has two purposes for the GetMail Module: it allows the program to identify where its own outbound SMTP messages have come from and it also tells the program what Email Domain it should monitor.

Video tutorial that explains PageGate Advanced ASCII Setup

Before we begin with the configuration, I am going to pull up an example of a standard ASCII data file.

You should notice that the first line of the file is the recipient the message should be delivered to.

The second line identifies who sent the message.

The third and following lines tells the program what message to be sent to the recipient.

Now I'm going to pull up an example of a nonstandard ASCII data file.

You should notice that the data looks nothing like the standard file. Even though the data is in different places and parsed by different strings, the program can still read this data file in, parse the data, and send out the message.

So, to begin, run the PageGate Admin.
Video tutorial that explains PageGate Basic ASCII Setup

Before we begin the configuration, let me first explain what the GetAscii module is and how it works.

The GetAscii module is a part of PageGate that can monitor a directory or series of directories for ASCII text output.

For example, if you are integrating with a server monitoring utility or a nursing station call system, those types of programs have the ability to write a text file to a directory.

The GetAscii module can then read in that text file, parse the data contained within it, and send the data out an SMS message or page to a mobile device.

The second function of the GetASCII module is that it provides a command line interface for other programs to use.
Before we begin, it is important to note that NONE OF YOUR PASSWORDS SHOULD BE THE SAME.

Each level of credentials in the program needs their own unique password.

Once in the program, go to Tools - Settings - Passwords. In the passwords section, you'll see that we have three different levels of security.

In order of importance, they are Administrative, Super User, and User.

The first is the Administrative credentials.

If you enter a password here, any time a user tries to access the program setup screens, such as adding, editing, or deleting carriers, recipients, or groups, and the program configuration in the import, export, and setup menus.
If you want to change the labels attached to the comments you may have added to your recipients and groups, enter them here.

The next is Max Message Length.

By default, it is set to 2000.

You will notice that we have four main types of reports: Sent Messages, Scheduled Messages, Statistics, and List.

The first three types of reports: Sent Messages, Scheduled Messages, and Statistics, can be filtered by the Recipient of the message, by the date and time the messages were sent, or by the carrier the messages were sent to.

For example, Left click on the Recipient option.

We can choose to run a report based on all recipients or only selected recipients.

Highlight the subjects of this report. Below that, you can specify the date and time range to view.

For example, I want to know all messages sent out for the last year, so I am going to change the date to this time last year.

Below that, you should see the Summary, Details, and totals Only options.

Video tutorial that details how to schedule text messages.

Scheduling a message allows you to tell NotePager Pro not to deliver the message immediately but to deliver it at a later date and time.

You can also have the program repeat the message at a specified interval as well.

Once in the program, you'll want to select the recipient, group, or series of recipients and groups you want this scheduled message to go to.

After selecting your recipients, type the message you would like sent in the Message Text box.

After entering the message, left click on the Options button.

In the Advanced Message Options, you'll notice three sections: Send Message When, Resend Message Every, and Stop Sending Message.

In the first section, you can set the date and time you would like the message sent.

For example, I'm going to say that I'd like this message delivered at 9:00 AM on September 2nd, 2009.

After setting the Message Start options, you need to choose if you want this message to be repeated every so often or if you just want the message delivered once.

When you do, the program will ask for the Local Domain.

The Local Domain identifies where your messages are coming from, not where they're going to.

The information entered into the Local Domain field MUST be a valid email address.

I recommend using the latter half of your email address.

For example, I'm going to use notepage.com since I want people to know that's where the messages have come from.

Video tutorial that details how to register NotePager Pro on Windows.

Welcome to the tutorial on how to register NotePager Pro. The first step is to run the program.

So, find the icon on your desktop, and double click on it.

When the program comes up, if you are using the unregistered trial version, you will see this box.

If you would like to purchase the program, left click on the Register button then left click on the Secure Online Ordering button.

If you have already purchased and wish to register the program, left click on the Enter Registration Information button.

When you left click on that button, the program will then ask you for the registration information.

The registration information must be typed exactly as it was originally sent to you.

It is both punctuation and case sensitive.

The information I am about to enter in is purely for demonstration purposes and is not a valid registration key.

So, enter the Name in the Name field.

Remember, this is both case and punctuation sensitive and must be entered precisely as it was sent to you.

Next, enter the company name.

Remember, this is both case and punctuation sensitive and must be entered precisely as it was sent to you.

After that, enter the Address 1 and 2 lines.

Remember, this is both case and punctuation sensitive and must be entered precisely as it was sent to you.

Enter the City, then the state, then the postal code, and finally the Country.

Remember, this is both case and punctuation sensitive and must be entered precisely as it was sent to you.

Below that, you will see the Registration Key section.

This is the numerical sequence that was emailed to you as part of the registration information.

After entering the numerical sequence precisely as it was sent to you, left click on Apply.

If you have made a typo or mistake in the key, you'll receive this box notifying you that the registration was not successful.

If you have entered the information correctly, it will say registration successful.

Click on OK, then click on Close. Left click on Close again, then left click on Continue to open the registered application.

This concludes the tutorial on how to register NotePager Pro.
