In the Display Setup screen, you should see these options.

The first two are Comment1 and Comment 2 Labels.

If you want to change the labels attached to the comments you may have added to your recipients and groups, enter them here.

The next is Max Message Length.

This identifies the maximum number of characters you would like your users to be able to send in a single message from NotePager Pro.

By default, it is set to 2000.

Next is Remove Preset Buttons.

If this is enabled, the Preset Messages buttons, identified as Prog1 through More in the interface, will not appear.

Next is the Remove Options button.

If this is enabled, the options button and the ability to schedule messages will be removed from the interface.

Next is the Remove Logs option.

If this is enabled, the ability to view the connector log and connection monitor will be removed from the interface.

Next is Remove Reports.

If this is enabled, the ability to run reports will be removed from the interface.

Video tutorial that explains how to run reports in NotePager Pro.

You will notice that we have four main types of reports: Sent Messages, Scheduled Messages, Statistics, and List.

The first three types of reports: Sent Messages, Scheduled Messages, and Statistics, can be filtered by the Recipient of the message, by the date and time the messages were sent, or by the carrier the messages were sent to.

For example, Left click on the Recipient option.

We can choose to run a report based on all recipients or only selected recipients.

Highlight the subjects of this report. Below that, you can specify the date and time range to view.

For example, I want to know all messages sent out for the last year, so I am going to change the date to this time last year.

Below that, you should see the Summary, Details, and totals Only options.

How to Schedule Text Messages Video Tutorial

Scheduling a message allows you to tell NotePager Pro not to deliver the message immediately but to deliver it at a later date and time.

You can also have the program repeat the message at a specified interval as well.

Once in the program, you'll want to select the recipient, group, or series of recipients and groups you want this scheduled message to go to.

After selecting your recipients, type the message you would like sent in the Message Text box.

After entering the message, left click on the Options button.

In the Advanced Message Options, you'll notice three sections: Send Message When, Resend Message Every, and Stop Sending Message.

In the first section, you can set the date and time you would like the message sent.

For example, I'm going to say that I'd like this message delivered at 9:00 AM on September 2nd, 2009.

After setting the Message Start options, you need to choose if you want this message to be repeated every so often or if you just want the message delivered once.

When the program comes up, left click on the Groups menu, then left click on Add.

In the Description field, enter the name for this group. You can name it anything you please.

After entering the name, left click in the short name field and it should fill in for you.

In the Comment 1 and Comment 2 fields, you can leave yourself notes or comments about this group.

You should also see the On-Call group checkbox but we'll get to that later.

Left click on Apply to add the group in and you should see this prompt.

Left click on OK, then left click on Close.

Now that we have the group entered in, go to Groups - Members.

Highlight the group and left click on Edit.

Here in the members section, you'll notice that we have two sections: Non-Members and Members.

To add someone as a member of a group, simply left click on their name and it will move them into the members section.

After entering the Full Name, left click in the short name field and you will notice that it fills this field in for you.

The type should almost always be Normal, so leave it there.

In the Carrier field, click on the drop down arrow to view a list of carriers that you have configured in the program.

After selecting one of your SNPP, WCTP, or TAP carriers, you should see the ID - PIN field.

n the ID/PIN field, enter the 10 digit phone number, no spaces or dashes, of the device you wish to contact. Below the ID - PIN field, you should see the Comment 1 and Comment 2 fields.

If you wish to leave yourself a comment with regards to this recipient, enter it into either field.

Next you'll see the Max Characters field.

If you have gone through our Carrier tutorial, you'll remember that the carrier also has a max characters.

The Carriers max characters determines the number of characters this carrier can receive in one message.

Once in the program, left click on the Carriers menu, then left click on Add.

In the Carrier field, enter the name of the carrier you're going to be sending the messages to.

Once you've entered the carrier's name, left click the dropdown arrow next to the Protocol, then select SMTP from the list.

When you do, the program will ask for the Local Domain.

The Local Domain identifies where your messages are coming from, not where they're going to.

The information entered into the Local Domain field MUST be a valid email address.

I recommend using the latter half of your email address.

For example, I'm going to use notepage.com since I want people to know that's where the messages have come from.

Before we actually perform the update, we'll need to do a backup of the NotePager Pro database.

This will insure that we don't lose any data in the transition.

The first step is to double click on My Computer.

In My Computer, locate your hard drive, usually Local Disk (C:), and double click on it.

In Local Disk (C:), locate the Program Files directory and double click on it.

In the Program Files directory, scroll through until you see the NotePager Pro directory and double click on it.

In the NotePager Pro directory, you should see a file named npp.mdb Right click on this file and left click on Copy.

Then close the file browser and right click on a blank portion of your desktop, then left click on Paste.

You can run the program by accessing it from your start menu or double clicking on the shortcut on your desktop.

If this is the first time you run NotePager Pro, it will ask you if you would like to register or continue.

If you would like to register, please see our NotePager Pro Registration tutorial.

If you would like to use the trial version, left click on Continue.

If this is the first time you've run the program, you'll be prompted by the Setup Wizard.

For the purposes of this tutorial, left click on Yes. In the first step of the setup wizard, it will ask you what you would like to use for the sender's name.

This name is what will show up on the recipients device as who sent the message and there are three available options.

If you don't want the program to send any senders information, select the first option.

If you would like the program to use the username of whoever you're logged into windows as, select the second option.

In this tutorial, we will be showing you how to download and install NotePager Pro.

The first step is to visit our website, www.notepage.net

Once there, you may need to scroll down a little but you should see the NotePager Pro section in the center of the page.

In the NotePager Pro section, you will notice that we have three options: More Information, Download, and Buy Now.

For the purposes of this tutorial, left click on the Download option.

It may take the website a few seconds to respond but you should see this prompt come up.

You'll want to left click on the Save option and, when asked where you want to save it, be sure to select the Desktop for easy reference later.

Now that we have the NotePager Pro installation file downloaded, double click on the file to run it.

You may be prompted by this open file security warning.

If so, left click on the Run option.

The installation will extract and give you this prompt.

Left click on Install NotePager Pro continue.

On the first step of the installation process, you don't necessarily need to view the Read me file or release notes, so click on next to continue the installation.

On the second step, please read the End User License Agreement Careful and click Next to proceed.

On the third step, you can choose a destination folder.

By default, the program will install itself to the Program Files directory.

If you wish to specify a different folder, left click on browse.

Otherwise, left click on Next to continue.

Left click on Next on the fourth and fifth steps, then left click on Finish to complete the installation process.

Welcome to the tutorial on how to register NotePager Pro. The first step is to run the program.

So, find the icon on your desktop, and double click on it.

When the program comes up, if you are using the unregistered trial version, you will see this box.

If you would like to purchase the program, left click on the Register button then left click on the Secure Online Ordering button.

If you have already purchased and wish to register the program, left click on the Enter Registration Information button.

When you left click on that button, the program will then ask you for the registration information.

The registration information must be typed exactly as it was originally sent to you.

It is both punctuation and case sensitive.

The information I am about to enter in is purely for demonstration purposes and is not a valid registration key.

So, enter the Name in the Name field.

Remember, this is both case and punctuation sensitive and must be entered precisely as it was sent to you.

Next, enter the company name.

After that, enter the Address 1 and 2 lines.

Enter the City, then the state, then the postal code, and finally the Country.

Below that, you will see the Registration Key section.

This is the numerical sequence that was emailed to you as part of the registration information.

After entering the numerical sequence precisely as it was sent to you, left click on Apply.

If you have made a typo or mistake in the key, you'll receive this box notifying you that the registration was not successful.

If you have entered the information correctly, it will say registration successful.

Click on OK, then click on Close. Left click on Close again, then left click on Continue to open the registered application.
