a Politcal Messenger |
Even a presidential candidate’s most devoted supporters
could be forgiven for trying to tune out the torrent
of campaign emails, Twitter messages, Facebook posts,
Instagrams and Snapchats that steadily flood voters
inboxes and social-media feeds in this digitized,
pixelated, endlessly streaming election cycle.
But a text message is different.
A text message — despite its no-frills, retro essence
— is something personal. Something invasive. Something
almost guaranteed to be read.

Text Message Keep Kids in School? |
These days, instead of writing notes to ourselves,
some people rely on texting. They text themselves
something they don't want to forget, and they text

to Integrate PRTG with PageGate |
Paesslers network monitoring software, PRTG Network
Monitor, offers multiple methods to relay notifications,
including SMTP mail relay, SMS, ICQ, etc., allowing
users to ensure in various ways that they are informed
if an issue such as an outage or a slow server needs
to be brought to their attention. However, there are
times when the normal relay means do not suffice,
particularly if the main leased line used to connect
to the network is interrupted. For these purposes,
PRTG Network Monitor includes the option to trigger
executable notifications which, combined with the
proper external software, can overcome this issue
with ease. One software we have been recommending
a while is PageGate from NotePage, Inc.

and NotePage |
PageGate can be used as the bridge between CAD (computer
aided dispatch systems) and can pass the email message
to Active911 to have the message broadcast to the
indicated individuals. There are several ways to configure
Pagegate to send messages to Active911. The easiest
method is to create a new recipient and add this recipient
to the desired group in Pagegate that is currently
receiving messages over either SNPP or SMTP.

Text Message Program Gives Lifesaving Tips To Expectant,
New Mothers |
According to the World Health organization
(WHO),
infants who are partly breastfed or not breastfed
at all may face a higher risk of death from diarrhoea
and other infections.
The global health body recommends exclusive breastfeeding
for the first six months of an infant's life. Breast
milk not only protects newborn babies from infection,
it also lowers mortality among malnourished children.
Luckily, Rahim knew better than her well-meaning friends,
having signed up to receive text messages on staying
healthy during pregnancy and after giving birth as
part of a government campaign to improve maternal
and newborn health in the east African country.

08/10/2015 The CIA
Cell Phone Precursor |
In the 1960s, the CIA was attempting to develop a
hand-held two-way communications system that would
allow case officers to swap messages with sources
without having to physically meet.
There were a few possible advantages to these early
Short-Range Agent Communications devices (SRAC). SRAC
systems could eliminate detection risks associated
with face-to-face meetings. Messages could be sent
directly to sources, rather than left in vulnerable
dead drops or conveyed through risky brush
passes in public.

May Relieve Physical Pain |
Text messaging has been maligned for causing chronic
aches and pains0thanks, in part, to the fact that
picking the perfect emoji and typing haha for
the hundredth time causes us to take on the posture
of Quasimodo.
However, while the act of texting may lead to discomfort
for those glued to their smartphones, receiving a
text message can significantly reduce pain for those
who are injured, ill, or undergoing surgery.

to Church: How SMS Helps Religion |
We do not too often think of technological development
in the realm of religion, a word that calls to mind
community gatherings and places of worship that long
predate modern technology. But the fact of the matter
is, when it comes to SMS technology, everyone is finding
ways to advance the things that are important to them,
and religion makes no exception. By embracing text
messaging, some religions and religious organizations
have found ways to make practice more convenient and
accessible to all.
