10/27/2009 Cell Phone
Etiquette |
Todays society is all about being connected 24-7.
Cell phones now provide instant access to anyone and
everyone, from corporate executives to housewives
and children alike. While cellular connectivity is
a comfort to some, it can be rude and disruptive to
others. You may wish to be available at all times,
but there are some times when it is simply not appropriate
to use your cell phone.
Also, cell phones should not be treated as status
symbols, and should not be paraded out simply to impress
others. Regardless of how new and impressive your
cell phone may be, dragging it out in a public setting
is seldom going to win you any fans.
Follow these simple cell phone guidelines to strike
a balance between accessibility and consideration
for others...

10/23/2009 What Is
Stored on Your Cell Phone Is Startling |
There are certain things you do not want to share
with strangers. In my case it was a stream of highly
personal text messages from my husband, sent during
the early days of our relationship. Etched on my phones
SIM card - but invisible on my current handset and
thus forgotten - here they now are, displayed in all
their brazen glory on a strangers computer screen.

The measure, proposed by the government, is just one
clause of an enormous piece of environmental legislation
that must still be debated by the National Assembly
before it has any chance of becoming law.

10/07/2009 Steps
Businesses Can Take to Go Green |
A business that makes the decision to be environmentally-conscious
will often promote goodwill among potential customers,
while making the world a better place for future generations.
Many businesses hesitate to adopt green practices
because they fear it will hurt their bottom line and
negatively impact profits. But many eco-conscious
businesses discover that they can actually save money
and bring in new customers who specifically patronize
companies that actively make an effort to be environmentally
friendly. Many customers may even be willing to pay
a bit more for a product or service from a company
that is green.

to Locate Kids |
With a computer or cell phone and an electronic tracking
device, you can locate a missing pet, follow the path
of a stolen car, find a skier buried in an avalanche
and rescue a hiker lost in the woods.
So what about a child snatched by a stranger?
About 800,000 children are reported missing in the
U.S. each year. The vast majority are runaways, followed
by parental abductions, said Ernie Allen, president
of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
About 58,000 children are kidnapped by strangers,
and 99 percent of those come home fairly quickly,
often victims of sexual abuse.
Then there are the approximately 115 children a year
like Jaycee Dugard, who are snatched then murdered,
ransomed or kept for several years.

Phone Banking |
With the introduction of an iPhone app that lets
you deposit a check by taking a picture of it, options
for mobile banking are growing rapidly. And though
you might think the boost in convenience comes at
the expense of security, banking on your cell phone
can actually be safer than using your PC if you take
basic precautions.

09/29/2009 Number
of Wireless Carriers |
How many wireless carriers do we need? It's a question
that's popping up again as T-Mobile USA is said to
be looking at buying Sprint Nextel Corp.
Now that most people have a cell phone and once-heady
growth in the industry is slowing, analysts say carriers
are going to be looking at buying each other to increase
their scale and to avoid competing too much on price.
Consumers have been benefiting from relentless price-cutting
on cell phone service in the past few years.

09/28/2009 Risks of
Cell Phone Use |
It is too soon to know if cell phone users are at
risk of developing cancer, but research conducted

least, there is cause for concern and a need for further
investigation, experts told a Senate panel Monday.
