Integration with Motorola Terminals

Steps to Use Motorola On-Site Paging Terminals with PageGate

PageGate has multiple methods of being integrated with Motorola's on-site paging solutions as it can output to a Motorola paging transmitter by using the TAP protocol and it can also receive input from a Motorola paging transmitter by using the GetTAP receiver module.

So, if you have an on-site paging solution by Motorola, you can configure PageGate to output to the paging terminal by doing the following:

1) Open the PageGate Admin.

2) Go to Connectors - Connector X - Settings.
Note: Any connector can be configured to reference a paging terminal.

3) Set the "Serial Port" field to match the COM/Serial port the terminal is plugged in to.

4) Check "Direct Connect"

5) Click on Apply.

6) Right click on Carriers, left click on Add.

7) Specify the following:

Name: Motorola
Protocol: TAP
Baud Rate: Mirror the paging terminal's setting.
Parity: Mirror the paging terminal's setting.
Data Bits: Mirror the paging terminal's setting.
Stop Bits: Mirror the paging terminal's setting.
Init String: direct (You'll need to type this in the field)

8) Click on Apply.

At that point, all you'll need to do is configure recipients to use the Motorola carrier. Use the pager's cap code or ID in the ID/Pin field.

If you want PageGate to receive input from an on-site paging terminal, here's how to configure PageGate's GetTAP module to do so:

1) Open the PageGate Admin.

2) Go to Interfaces - GetTAP - Settings.

3) Set the "Serial Port" field to match the COM/Serial port the terminal is plugged in to.

4) Specify the following:

Baud Rate: Mirror the paging terminal's setting.
Parity: Mirror the paging terminal's setting.
Data Bits: Mirror the paging terminal's setting.
Stop Bits: Mirror the paging terminal's setting.
Init String: direct (You'll need to type this in the field)

5) Put a check in Enabled.

6) Click on Apply.
6a) When prompted, you do want to enable this for all existing groups and recipients.
