|

Hi!
We're having a problem where after a reboot, SMTP works for for about 30 minutes, then will give us "Message Not Accepted". If we reboot, it clears the problem temporarily.
This problem has just cropped up over the last few days. I did go through and make sure the SMTP settings were correct, and there is a valid sender name.
Please let me know what I can do in order to fix this. We did purchase a SMTP license last Fall.
Your soonest reply will most helpful.

The modem TAP connections work very well, no problems there. It's just the SMTP connections to US Cellular (email.uscc.net) and AT&T (mail.att.net).
Thanks!

The AT&T folks don't receive their pages now, even if Notepager says that it was sent successfully. The US Cellular folks work good when Notepager gets a "success" message.
Thanks!

The first step for us to help is to get debugging information into your dialer log file.
While at the main NotePager Pro screen, hit <ctrl><alt><d> by holding down the 'ctrl' and 'alt' keys, and then pressing the 'd' key. You should get a message that detailed logging has been enabled.
Please post back here a section of your dialer log showing the last successful message, and then a couple of messages failing after that. |

This may look like everything is fine, except the US Cellular folks DID get their page, whereas the AT&T (all 7) folks DID NOT.
Strange.
If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Just as I was sending the above, one of the account managers told me that they had created a separate distribution list with just the AT&T folks in it and they all got the page.
So, we'll have to use to distribution lists for one page, but at least the customer will be happy now.
If you can give guidance on how we can fix the problem, please let me know.

We are using Pagegate not notepager, as such there is no npp.log file... what is the log name within Pagegate.

Please do the following so that you will have detailed connection (debugging) information in the dialer log(s):
1.) Create a empty text file in the folder "C:\Program Files\PageGate\".
2.) Rename the file to "modem.dbg".
When you change the file name and extension, Windows should warn you about making the file unusable.
3.) Select "Yes".
4.) Stop PageGate's Dialer(s)
5.) Restart PageGate's Dialer(s)
Your modules will see the file (which acts as a flag) and the dialers will now write detailed debugging information to the logs.
I would suggest increasing the log size ('Logging' - 'Settings' - 'Max Log Length') to accommodate the increase in information being written to your logs.
After shutting down and restarting PageGate, attempt to send several messages. When you start to see the errors, attach the PageGate dialer log files ("PGDial1.log","PGDial2.log", etc.) to an e-mail and send them to forumsupport@notepage.com . |
