Hi,
I have setup a complet version of NotePager Pro with modem Genpro 30e. i have entered the correct messaging center number but getting the error message "unable to connect to carrier".
I have tested the card SIM in a GSM phone and I can send the SMS using the same messaging center number.

Hm, there are a few things I'd like to take a look at so, if you would, please post the connector log from the program:
1) Open NotePager Pro
2) Go to View - Dialer Log.
3) Click on the Clipboard button.
4) Paste the log in to the forum message box and post it. |

Ah, you have the program configured to use the TAP protocol, which is a POCSAG (dial-up) modem protocol. Here's what you'll want to do:
1) Go to Carriers - Edit.
2) Highlight libertis2, click on Edit.
3) Set the following:
Protocol: GSMAT
Baud Rate: 115200
Parity: None
Data Bits: 8
Stop Bits: 1
Init String: AT+CSQ (You will need to click inside the field and type this in)
4) Click on Apply.
After setting that, try to send a message. |

2 things:
1) The CSQ command checks signal strength at that moment - your result of 7,99 indicates very low strength
2) CMS Error 304 typically indicates an INVALID PDU mode
Is this device GSM or CDMA?
The destination number you are using looks odd - when you tried the SIM in a phone, did you use the same ID format?_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

If you would, please try this:
1) Open NotePager Pro.
2) Go to Carriers - Edit.
3) Highlight libertis2, click on Edit.
4) Change the Init String to: AT+CMGF=1
5) Click on Apply.
Then try to send a message and see if it goes through. If it doesn't, please repost the Dialer Log from the program. |

As per the GSM-AT specification, a CMS error 330 indicates that the device does not know the address of the SMS SC (Service Center). Based on the previous posts, it appears that this device is improperly configured. I suggest you revert the device back to the factory default and start fresh. Alternatively, you could replace it with one of our MultiTech devices that is known to work. I apologize I cannot be more helpful, I am not familiar with the modem you are attempting to use.
ADDITIONALLY:
In your first posted test - you used:

In your second posted test - (after trying CMGF=1), you used:

Try the SECOND test using "0024106575656" as the recipient ID

From what I've read, that specific CMS error means that the address of the operator SMSC is not defined. It seems to be a bug in some cellular modem chipsets, where they don't read this address automatically from the SIM.
This means we have to manually specify the SMSC definition, here's how:
1) Open NotePager Pro.
2) Go to Carriers - Edit.
3) Highlight libertis2, click on Edit.
4) Change the init string to: AT+CSCA=0696741234
*** NOTE ***
Replace 0696741234 with the real service center address, which you should be able able to get from the cellular modem's carrier. |

is telling you that 0024106200021 is NOT a valid SMSC address
